Daisy Ridley comes to mind

t:.
I know the party line from TLJ, but I still hold a torch out for Abrams ultimately squaring the circle and revealing that Rey is somehow the final daughter of one Anakin Skywalker. The Force works in mysterious ways!
She'd be the ultimate trIXie.
As best I can tell, Rey is essentially that Nelith Skywalker character, but which actresses in the '80s was right the age, etc. for the role? That was the question.
The Force would indeed be working in mysterious ways if Anakin could impregnate a woman thirty plus years after his nads were deep fried.
Rey's irrelevant parentage isn't the "party line" from TLJ - that is from TFA and Abrams himself. The scene with Maz states clearly that wherever Rey comes from is not important, it only matters where she is going. Johnson simply told how and why the parents died.
I don't understand this obsession of people that Rey must be the daughter of
someone when she clearly isn't. And is the point of it?
How can Leia have had a child and not know about it?
Why make her Han's daughter when he is dead?
What would be the point to a reveal that she is Luke's kid after Luke is dead?
What possible point could their be to making Rey a descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi - a character to which she has had no connection (not can she have)? This goes for every other "legacy" character you could name. And there will not a new character in IX to be her mother or father.
And Abrams and Johnson discussed the movies and characters with each other. Abrams knew exactly what Johnson had decided to do with Rey's parents and obviously agreed (maybe even it was Abram's idea originally) so why would he reverse something he not only agreed with, but something that was so important to Rey development. This is not a
certain point of view issue like Kenobi does with Luke - any backtracking on what is said about the parents in TFA & TLJ would be pointless rubbish.
It won't happen. And that people can't let that lineage thing go is scary.
Anyway, I got my answers to the question. People PM'd because they predicted, or saw, that it was going to become a Rey's parents thing. I should have suspected too.
