If you guys listen to the commentary on Episode IV during the Lightsaber fight, Lucas admits he had no back story to Obi Wan and Vader and that the backstory was suppose to remain mysterious. The idea of them knowing each other was that they had a history, audience understood they had a history, but you weren't exactly suppose to know what it was.
Then insert prequels, which was something Lucas made up wayyyy after the original trilogy. Lucas had no story. He had a page of notes of the characters in the OT. Then he was lost in making the prequels, which is why most people hate them.
What is interesting is that most Star Wars fans think Lucas knew the prequel in his head since the beginning, that is untrue.
When Lucas says you are suppose to watch the saga from Ep.1-6, he is lying.
You really are suppose to watch Ep 4-6, then the prequel. If you watch them in a series, then the best part of empire, is the twist, Vader is Luke's father. If you watch them in order, it wont be a surprise...Just boring.
And the whole scene where Luke kind of likes Leia..well if u watch it in order, you will know how dumb it is for Luke to be fallin for leia.
