What is the scariest movie of all time...

"Salem's Lot" scared me as a kid,"When A Stranger Calls" (original) first 20 minutes was pretty freaky.

Have you checked on the children?! Well.... have you? .... Shuley?

I was more exhilirated than terrified, but I agree with everyone nominating Carpenter's original Halloween.

It's my favorite horror film. But technically, nothing's really scared me...

Although I would have to say the scariest, yet dumbest, horror film for me was "Child's Play."

There's something about the monster or homicidal killer taking the form of a children's doll that I find incredibly chilling. Of course that series fell more into absurd humor because of it's mediocrity.

I grew up watching Salem's' Lot so I love that movie its creepy but scarriest I would have to agree with a few others and say the Exorcist, even to this day I still feel a kind of uneasiness watching it...

Have you ever seen the miniseries? I've only seen the movie and can never find a copy of the miniseries. Then I recently watched the remake, that was horrible. I know Stephen King didn't care for the original and outright hated Kubricks version of The Shining but they were way better. Maybe they changed things from the book but the remake of The Shining was such cheesy crap.

"I am not the Zodiac. And if I were, I certainly wouldn't tell you."

Not necessarely creepy but (very) disturbing :
The scene where Zodiac attacks the couple at the lake. I thought he would just them or run away with their stuff.
Then he just begins stabbing them. The stabbing done was so realistic. That was messed up man.

btw , while alot of movies that have scary scenes there i wouldn't say there is a scariest one of all time because once you've seen a scar it's pretty hard to top it since you know what's going to happen.

But anyway one of the more creepiest ones was a movie with Karen Black & Oliver Reed called Burnt Offerings : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burnt_Offerings_(film)
There's a scene in this movie where the kid watches a driver of a LIMO arriving. That's it. No blood or gore or anything. JUst a guy driving a limo , stepping out and looking at the kid.
The whole scene with camera moves , sound effects and music is seriously creepy.

The Shining

Scariest scene: the end of Carrie

Honorable mention: The Exorcist, Alien

Scariest scene for me is this one and the next shot after it, a close-up of regans face "do you know what she did your ****ing daughter"

Have you seen the 25th Anniversary Edition with the added scene where she crawls down the front steps upside-down like a spider?

It's superfreaky.

Oh yea and then she vomits blood on the stairs. Oh another great scene is when the words help me appear on regans stomach

Deuce Bigelow: European Gigolo. The man-****e killer put a serious crimp in my job. My man-gina was inoperable for a week. Luckily, some he-bi**h was able to calm me down. Whew...

Still, everytime I meet some he-john I always am on the lookout for...
