The Godfather Part II isn't just the best sequel of all time. It could be argued that it's THE best film all time. I'm not saying it is, definitely, but the argument could definitely be made. It's just amazing.

Godfather II is the best film on this list. But I voted T2 because of how much it out shined the previous film.

The improvement from Terminator to T2 was bigger than from Godfather to Godfather II.

I disagree, I disliked Godfather but really enjoyed Godfather 2 so for me the difference between the opening movie and the sequel was huge but I enjoyed Terminator but loved T2 so the gap (in quality) is smaller.

To me, a great sequel is so good, it becomes as iconic a film, if not even moreseo, as the first, and thats not easy to do. The Greatest Second Movies, IMO:

Terminator 2
Wrath of Khan
The Dark Knight

Third Movies:

Goldfinger
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Surpasses the original in every single way, and is immensely entertaining:

But of all-time... probably T2.

There's really nothing they could do to compare to the ending of the original film. However it did give the fans more of what they wanted. Scream 2 isn't the best sequel of all time , but it's certainly a good one.
