I've read with interest other people's comments, from this and other Websites like IMDB, regarding what they consider to be the ideal feature-film Wonder Woman. From what I can see, alot of those threads, especially in the latter, are just plain fanboyism: "<insert fav actress/model/hottie's name here> for Wonder Woman", ad infinitum ad nauseum.

We all have our own ideas...as seen in the thread dedicated to casting suggestions. I for one have not seen anyone yet capable to take on the role.

What this thread is about, regardless of the other aspects of the movie such as directors, script or whatever proposed storyline or direction that we feel the movie should take, is to put yourself in the position of the Casting Director...but without mentioning specific actresses, and dwelling on whatever knowledge you have of the comic book character.

What characteristics would you be looking for in an actress that would convince you that she can play Wonder Woman?

Do you have your own set of criteria? What are they? Are they prioritised?

What do you think is and or is not important in deciding an actresses ability to play the role, and why?

All of the above. How someone could pick any other option is confusing. There are so many potential candidates out there that I cant imagine it ever coming down to having to choose between extremes.

I dont think we'll ever have to decide between the woman who looks like Wonder Woman stepped off the page, but has never acted in her life, or the Oscar-winning actress who looks like Danny DeVito.

This is Wonder Woman

The Face of Cameron Diaz from this W magazine photoshoot
The Body of Jessica Biel as seen here
And the Acting tallent of some one ALOT better then them :p
And the most important thing.. she must look greek
Wonder Woman is not som skinny ass ***** like Megan Fox or Taylor Cole, WonderWoman is supposed to be the pinacle of female form, not some talantless, ****ty, skinny, brat like Taylor Cole. Wonder Woman should NEVER be played by any actress that can be mistaken for a porstar.. like Megan Fox.
The Actress cast as Wonder Woman should be toned but not a bodybuilder, she should a classic beauty with curves, but the most important thing.. she must be able to hold her own agains legends like Al Pacino (just an example you get the picture)
The actress cast as Wonder Woman must look mature but not old... again.. stop pushing for Taylor Cole..

Some one who would actually work out and do as much of the fights and stuff herself as possible, rather than someone who would just sit around and look pretty. That's my main concern, and in my opinion knowing that the actress would take the character as seriously as say, Christian Bale does for Batman would be the first sign that we actually might have a great film on our hands. If she doesn't really do anything, and doesn't work out any, and has a stuntperson handle all the fight scenes, then I can almost 100% guarantee you that it will be just as bad as Elektra/Catwoman.

Honestly, I would say that physical ability would be a bit more important to me than acting ability. Don't get me wrong, both are VERY important but for example I would rather have a Wonder Woman actress who was a decent actress with a great physical presence than a great actress who couldn't do anything physically.

I voted for combination of the above.

I agree with alot of what you are saying, and I can see what you mean about Megan Fox. I went on the casting suggestions thread and saw all those pics of her. I give her a big Thumbs down! Maybe that thread's title should be changed to "Fanboys Choices for WW". What do you think?

Yep the prospective actress would have to be more involved, and definitle I agree that this actress must be believable as WW, and this directly, perhaps decisively contributes to the credibility of the movie, alongside a good director and screenplay. If the powers that be are taking this long to make the movie because they haven't found a suitable actress then this is a very good, promising sign that they are taking this project seriously.

I believe that everything will have to be equal here. Whomever is selected will have to be as beautiful as she is talented as an actress, within a realistic height range and be able to sell action moves as if she had been practicing them her whole life. She have to be able to make WW her own while being respectful of WW's long history and Lynda's work. She doesn't have to be Greek but have the features of classical Greek beauties. Sounds impossible I know, but I know she's out there just waiting to be offered the part!

a lady with a strikingly beautiful face
a lady who fully embodies the meaning of the word "woman"
a lady who can stand head and shoulders among her masculine peers
a lady who can command a room without uttering a word
a lady who can make you believe that angels are real.

So basically we need Joel Silver to literally go the comic route and create a woman out of clay. I don't think any chick will ever measure up to what we want. Carter was just dumb luck.

i basically agree w/ what everyone's said so far. here are my requirements:

lookwise..
- between 5'8"-6'1", but preferably 5'10-6'
- athletic, but curvy, womanly body, well-proportioned, d-dd cup
- not pasty-pale, & not too tan, natural-looking
- hair can be dyed but getting someone with naturally black or brown hair ensures it'll look good.
- beautiful, soulful, striking, blue eyes. lots of ppl just think you can give her conacts but i always think they look fake & souless.
- beautiful, striking face with classic beauty, a little exoticness is good, but not too much. preferably with a greek or mediterranean look.

actingwise & other
- really wants to portray wonderwoman well, wants to portray a strong female.
- someone we're not afraid of young girls looking up to (this means no pornstars, nude models, druggie party girls, etc.) a good role model.
- speaks very good english, it can be her second language, but we shouldn't be able to tell.
- nice voice, not butch, but not wimpy either, a strong & pretty voice, commanding when she wants it to be.
- a really good, dedicated actress, someone already said along the lines of christian bale.
- under 30, we want her to be able to do sequels.
- a fresh face, someone who we watch and see the character, not someone we watch & see the actress. (this has someting to do with acting ability, but i think you know what i mean)

well, thats all i can think of for now :yay: .

well you answered your own question. Carter certainly isnt made from clay.

i said this before, Connelly and Bellucci are the best bets for WW, neither of whom are made of clay. the only thing thats taking them out of the running is their chronological age-- and thats really more Hollywood's fault since genetics is on their side.
