So I've checked out a few of the fan edits of the Star wars films, and have really enjoyed some of the work put into them. What does anyone think of these? I know there is literally tons more, but I haven't really checked out many. Do you think fan edits are ar egood thing? I've ehard a lot of controvery on this, since its technically changing the original vision of the director who actually worked on the film.

There are also fan edits made to resemble what the film makers had originally envisioned before the studio enforced changes...

You are right, Halloween 6 The Producer's Cut is something like this, distributed online and such though there have been sale copies, where the original, and better version has been recompiled with the deleted footage and works much better.

Speaking of Halloween, I've been thinking of doing a fan edit of Halloween Resurrection. It is mostly to start learning editing skills to help when my friends and I begin filming our own film project we are working on. Basically, my idea would be to reorganize some scenes in the film, delete others, and rework the story a bit. My idea would be delete scenes like the stupid Butsa Rhymes meets Michael in the room when he's dressed as Michael, and Michael just walks off. Trim down the "kung fu" scene, and instead of the ending where the main character is saved by BR, use the deleted ending where instead the guy from online shows up to save her. Yeah, its cruel of me to kill of Busta's character, but we all wanted it. Trim down scenes like the fake looking decapitation scene/do some edits to it, and then my biggest edit would likely be the beginning. Since I hated the that the beginning was Laurie's death, I would move the whole finale to the end. when Michael wakes up at the end, I would edit in a walking scene from possibly one of the remakes, as the hospital scenes would look too grainy from Halloween II. I'd find footage of someone's hands going through files and pull one out. Cut to a month or so later, and then have the set up for for the finale with Laurie. I know it sounds like it wouldn't make much sense but it would give Michael time to heal, aquire a new mask, and then even if Michael prevailed and killed Laurie, at least it would be a fitting end to the series rather than a mediocre opening to a crappy film. I'm sure I could find some footage somewhere of someone in a jumpsuit getting shot from behind too, so that Michael could fall off and reuse footage from the end of Halloween with him laying on the ground, than switch to the shot of Laurie hanging and cut to black. Basically its an idea I have anyway.

I make fanedits of things myself. Mine are nowhere near as slick and professional looking as some of these guys do, but they suit my purposes.

The Phantom Edit :awesome:

If I knew what I was doing , yes , absolutely.

I'v found "scenes" more interesting than full fan edits. When fans put there own music over the top of OST I find it very annoying. Especially when it music that used a million times over like Requiem For Dream.

When they are well made small, little funny cuts, I think they are terrific.
