What next for the WWE, does it have a reason to exist?

I 'm not sure I understand the Chris Benoit thing. They say it has nothing to do with steroids because his brain was like that of a 90 year old man with dementia . Ok that sounds better but wait , why was his brain that defunct.
Also should we be concerned about these old men going into a rage. Is grandpa too dangerous. Also does this make Chris Benoit innocent.??
Concussions, lots of them. I'm not saying he's innocent, or that the roids had nothing to do with it, just that the concussions were a factor in the problem with his brain.

Yeah , It may have not helped much to be doing the flying head butt all those years.

I used to watch WWE when it was still WWF. The reason why it intrigued me since I was just a toddler was because all the wrestlers were like cartoon characters. The characters were memorable. Lately, they all look the same. They all look like they are on the roids and wear the same manties.

You have, what, "The Legend Killer"? A dude with a crew cut and briefs.

Then you have Brock Lesner...with a crew cut and briefs.

Then you have...well jeeze, at least The Undertaker and Hogan (?) are still around.
Well, "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton is actually working a rather good gimmick. He plays the egomaniac very well. As for Lesner, he's been gone for quite a while now and is trying to get into UFC. And there are other top talents. If you're looking for the cartoon characters, those days are pretty much over. The fans grew out of it, and you can thank guys like "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, HHH and "The Rock" for this new direction. Now, I'll admit, things are different, and it will never be the same as it used to be, but that's why it survives. It keeps evolving. As for all of the guys on roids in manties, would you rather watch guys like Dusty Rhodes in his yellow polka-dot manties? I didn't think so. The whole issue with roids is a concern, but these guys are doing it for the same reason baseball players are doing it. The fans demand more. It's no longer entertaining to watch the same old thing. Thirty homeruns isn't enough anymore, we need 75, a body slam won't cut it anymore, it need to be an F-5. So, the athletes do what they feel they need to do to make the fans happy. Back to your original point, that all the guys are the same, well, a lot of the guys back in the 80's and 90's were the same, and a lot of the guys that will wrestle 20 years from now, will be the same. But, there will always be those who stand out, and those are the ones the fans will always pay to see, and that is the WWE's reason for living.

The Undertaker has improved over the years and is a better wrestler now than ever.

Shawn Michaels is on the roster and is still working great matches .

I think after wwe got alot of wcw guys like benoit , rey , and eddie alot of things changed. That is when the quality of matches started improving .

So now a big part of it is who can carry a good match out and who is a better in ring performer.

For the kids they have John Cena , who gets booed because he isnt that great a wrestler. Meanwhile the kids love him .

It's no longer entertaining to watch the same old thing.

Yes, I agree

My point was, this is supposed to be SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT, not SPORTS DRAMA WHERE EVERYBODY LOOKS THE SAME. I cant tell the difference from one guy to the next! If I wanted to watch something like they have been playing on this show, I'd turn the channel to LIFETIME. In fact I lost my interest in the show when Steve Austin's new catch line was "What?!", with crowd support. That got annoying pretty damn fast.

BTW whatever happend to John Cena's Malibu's Most Wanted gangster talk? It seemed to have dissappeared when he became popular.

Oh and wrestlers like Hulk Hogan and Doink the clown will always be fan favorites and draw in the crowds, no matter how much people "grew out of it" and watch what they force down people's throats these days.

It's (not wanting to sound homophobic) so gay! In lots of ways.

Around the time the Marine came out, his gimmick changed for no reason from "white guy who thinks he's black and 'street' even though he's from West Newburry, MA" to "guy who thinks he's a marine, cause he played one in a movie, even though he apparently cant even salute properly"

So, he traded one terrible gimmick to another, even though what he really needed was to learn how to f**king wrestle, not a gimmick change.

Oh, and if you cant tell the difference between 90% of the wrestlers just by looking at them, you're blind. No one really looks the same. Put Jeff Hardy next to The Undertaker next to Shawn Michaels next to Randy Orton next to CM Punk. They all have radically different looks.

Well I'm excluding the classics like "Undertaker" and "Shawn Michaels". In fact I'm excluding everybody before 2002. Its like we have 10 new wanna-be cage fighters with no appearance that match the gimmicks they are supposed to act like. Its like Batman without the costume.

Hell, the last entertaining match I watched was between the excercise tycoon and Eugene during the Eddie Guirerro tribute show. We need more wrestlers like that, even "Boogieman" was very entertaining.

If you want cartoony stuff, right now they have Hornswaggle running around and doing things that are literally out of a Roadrunner cartoon, ie, painting tunnels on walls and running through them and blowing Jonathan Coachman up with an oversized plunger that says TNT on it.

And I cant think of a single wrestler with no appearance. Hell, even Charlie Haas has his stupid pulling out a mask at a random point during his match thing going on. Santino Morrella may look sort of generic, but the minute he opens up his mouth you know who he is.

Your right, WWE is at the top of its peak right now and its the best its ever been  Although it might have to change its routine a bit if the UFC decides to add storylines to its programming, nobody wants to watch the same thing over and over.

Then i liked it WWF.Those were my favorite years, and good story lines.
Now i just think is full of crap. Its no good anymore.

I do not know what the WWE is doing right now. I have not watched since the era of the rock and stone cold. I guess I just grew up. I think it has gone down hill since then but maybe that is the problem with age. My sister still loves it and watches it all the time now and she is a bit younger than me. I think all ages watch the show and it still pulls in the crowds.

Who knows what will happen to the WWE in the future. It's still going strong.

...I just saw the date for this. Nvm.

Rock is still People's Champ
Stone Cold is still the bottom line.

It always goes thru hot spurts and cold spurts. We're just in a cold one right now. It's reminiscent of WCW where the same few people are at the top and no one younger with talent has much room to move up the ladder. Guys like HHH and Cena are great, don't get me wrong, but guys like Jeff Hardy and CM Punk need to be at the top with them. Granted Hardy is getting a push, but I don't see him winning the belt anytime soon.

It's very hard to transition the younger guys into the spotlight as no one wants to see their main stars replaced. Brock Lesnar was pushed but he still failed....Cenar is doing great imo.

A lot of people would want Hardy as champ. People are sick of the same ol' sh-t, which is why the product is currently stale. Guys like HHH and Cena don't need the belt anymore. It's like Flair, Hogan, HBK, Bret Hart or any of the legends. You get to a point were you transcend the spectacle. You become bigger than a title. That's when it's time for the younger guys to work at becoming legends themselves. Edge and Orton are the only two talented young guys in a long time who have been brought up to World Champ status.

I like Randy Orton, he has a cleaner cut image that I like.

I just hope he keeps all his personal demons in check. He was in hot water for awhile. I hope he doesn't waste it man.

I like Edge a lot. I met him a few years ago and he was really cool with the fans and went way out of his way for autographs and photos. He seemed like a genuinely nice person. Plus I just like his character. I tend to cheer the heels. It's been that way since I was a kid when I wanted Dibiase to flatten Hogan and Savage.

so this basiclly has become a thread for people to ***** about wwe and blame them for everything

its great to bring it back
