What next for the WWE, does it have a reason to exist?

If you had less friends to split the cost with, would you follow it?

I'd watch it sporadically like I do now. Wrestlemania has just become our annual tradition, so I'll most likely watch it whether I've been keeping up or not. I keep up with what is gong on via the net but I honestly don't sit through Raw like I used to and SmackDown is virtually unwatchable apart from a few people. ECW I won't even mention at this point (except CM Punk is fun to watch). Just so you have an idea, Wrestlemania itself is virtually in my backyard this year and I am not willing to fork out $50 for a ticket. I may go to the Hall of Fame ceremony however, depending upon cost and whomever gets nominated.

Your post makes sense. It's an entertaining laugh with your mates. You are more laughing at it, than with it.

The whole thing lol. He never said he was laughing at anything....anywhere.

:) Whirly, we've been through this a million times. I know you can read and have pretty good comprehension skills.

What really is the purpose of this thread? It's as if Vince McMahon killed your cat or something.

I do actually laugh at a lot of it, as it has gotten ridiculous from time to time. Some examples of laughable storylines: Vince McMahon's death, Vince's mystery son, anything with Trump, Divas with actual talent being reduced to eye-candy and filler, pretty much all of Smackdown, the Edge/Vickie Guerrero thing. However it's not gotten as bas as TNA with catch the rat matches, pointless wrestler parodies, too many gimmicky freaks and anything else that spills out of Vince Russo's head.

Thank you for that Corpus. I thought I had got the gist of your post and wan't putting words into your mouth.

You find it entertaining because it's a tradition, a part of your youth and as an adult you find it ridiculous and it's so silly you enjoy it. Is that about right my friend?

What do you think it's purpose is?

Whirly, be serious and not your usual troll self for like 5 mins. You tongue-tie most of the casual and ex-wrestling fans you talk to in this thread and spin their words to suit your anti-wrestling obsession.

I'm really unsure as to what you're doing(if not trolling). You dislike pro-wrestling and everything about it. I get that; there was a point about a year ago when I thought I was gonna stop watching so the business isn't perfect or enjoyable 100% of the time. But what is? I love UFC; I know you do too, and I've seen lots and lots of straight up boring fights.

:) Your turn

Vince has come up up w/ some utterly ridiculous things in the past; no argument here. Vince/Shane vs HBK/God made me roll my eyes harder than I ever have in my life.

Did you see the Rumble? It was amazing. No stupid skits/angles; just great wrestling all around.

I'd love to be able to discuss this more tonight Cs and Cb but the hype is playing up for me. I have pmed Malice about it. However it's quite annoying as I cannot see the page quite a lot, because, it's not loading properly. So I am going down the pub for an hour instead.

Not exactly. I laugh at was is ridiculous, but I appreciate it for what it is. I still enjoy wrestlers who stay true to the heart of the fundamentals of professional wrestling. Guys like Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Rob Van Dam, Edge and so many others. What I don't like is the spectacle it has become at times. The bookers have a hard time realizing when certain things are just a bit too much. As Jeff Jarrett once said, "Those who love professional wrestling need no explanation, but for those who don't, no explanation will do." Those of us who love it and respect the tradition of it are not going to change our minds because the vast majority of society deems it as stupid. Just as the vast majority of society will never understand why so many people like this ludicrous form of entertainment.

I like UFC too, but for the most part, the fights are boring.

Best PPV in a long time IMO.

However, I was pulling for Taker to win.

That's cool. I'll be off here for awhile anyway within the next hour or so. Going to the movies.

Even with the boring UFC fights, I think it's really entertaining to watch. They usually get boring if there's too much of one thing; like ground work, striking, etc. Gotta switch that **** up

It really was. When a PPV opens with Flair vs MVP, you know it can only get better from there

The Lesnar fight, all 90 seconds of it, was really entertaining though. I thought he would get pummeled, then after he just unleashed on Mir I was shocked at his striking ability. Then he fell to a rookie mistake. It was unfortunate for him. I think he's going to do really well in the long run. Maybe now, Lashley will cross over too.

Unfortunately, I only caught the tail end of the Flair/MVP match as I didn't get home in time for the show.

Lesnar just needs time....and a better personal trainer(his legs from the knee down looked so frail :()

Another year or two, if he sticks with it and I think he could be quite dominating. Hopefully he can go the distance and not gas out like Tyson after a round or two.

Fair enough, you enjoy it whilst realising exactly what it is. You seem a bright guy so I will respect that. Your understanding of what the WWE is, must be the most balanced and perceptive from a WWE fan I have read on this site.

I never find a real fight boring, if, both fighters are giving the most they can give

when they turned half the ecw roster into jobbers i stopped watching it

It's true , he basically dominated the match . I think Lesnar is in route to being the champion of Ufc.

I would like to see a Lashley vs. Lesnar fight . I think Lesnar would crush him though. The buildup would be exciting. I also think Kurt Angle should stay away from the octagon but i think they are planting the seeds for a matchup.

And that's the FISHING LINEEE because SHARK BOY said so.

Kills me everytime.

The CW cancels WWE SMACKDOWN

The CW will stop carrying “WWE Smackdown” at the end of the 2007-08 season, World Wrestling Entertainment said late Thursday.

WWE said it began talks with other networks after the CW’s exclusive negotiation period expired on Jan. 31.

Among those likely to be contacted are MyNetworkTV, some of whose affiliates carried wrestling when they were UPN stations, and NBC Universal, which runs some WWE events in late night and whose USA cable channel carries WWE Raw on Monday nights.
