What next for the WWE, does it have a reason to exist?

That's 20 deaths over 15 years. How many women are raped per day? How many people are killed by drunk drivers? How many people OD on drugs? Yes, there's a problem with steroids in the WWF. There's also a problem with steroids in baseball, hey that Cardinals pitcher also died because he was drunk and possibly high earlier this year, does baseball have a place in society. I mean really it's pretty stupid, just a bunch of grown men playing catch.

15 out of maybe 300 people. That's a pretty high percentage. I take your point about Baseball. Being English, I never understood it's appeal fully. We call it "Rounders" in England and it's played by girls. I agree Steroid abuse is prevelant in many sports but the use of steroids in conjunction with so many other Narcotics is not as prevalent, to take a job to "win" for real in competition is more understandable to me than to take a variety of drugs for a variety of reasons. Sport Entertainment has cornered the market on Steroid abusing, prescription anti-depressant using, amphetamine popping, painkiller addicted cokehead alcoholics, who use date rape drugs like GHB.

You make some good points then spoil it at the end, because, of course the percentage of wrestlers who behave in extreme ways is higher than the rest of the population.

The final paragraph makes no sense, because most comics have a very wholesome message e.g. "With great power comes great responsibility", "Truth, Justice and the American way". I'm not sure what the American way is but I think we get the point. As for movies it depends on the genre you watch. I would say my favourite movie, "The Shawshank Redemption", has a number of messages that are both educational and wholesome, despite the at times depressing subject matter.

Actually I was talking about violence. Maybe the pop. where you live doesn't have such troubles but here in terms of convictions for violence wrestlers would in no way be out of place in terms of violence perpetuated by regular guys on the street.

Yes there are some good messages in comics but there are bad ones too. Punisher and Lobo strike me as two models you might not want your kids following.

Shawshanks Redemption is a heart string puller sure but how is it educational? It's a fictional account of a prison that didn't exist with incredibably steriotypical characters. What did you learn from it? That the justice system and prisons aren't fair? Shocking! That people in prison get raped and try to escape? Seen that a million times before. That a person with enough conviction can get out of any situation? Count of Monte Cristo. Sorry guy, it's all just entertainment.

Hey guys, I'm in UK, so I haven't kept up with stuff. I used to watch WWF, did it change its name to WWE? Funny, I downloaded some things the other day -- that big mess with Hitman and Shawn Micheals from years ago. What a bad ending for such a good run. I hardly know anyone in it anymore when I see posters or adverts.

I don't know if I agree with that. Just because it the movie hadn't affected you, doesn't mean it doesn't for other people. I remember watching some of the extras on the Shawshank Redemption DVD and there was like a whole mini-documentary on the impact of that movie in people's lives.

When are people going to realize that Whirly is just trolling, trying to get people riled up, and succeeding in it?

Ya I remember a similar thread he did just to start arguments, and everytime someone would disagree with him he'd post a pic of a fish with a hook in it's mouth and a ":woot:".

Has anybody read that pile of crap Hulk Hogan came out with about C.B.'s wife yet?
That dumb old bastard should shut the hell up.

yes it did the world wildlife fund complaind that since both outfits had the initials wwf it could get confusing when the courts ruled in favor of the fund machmahon &co changed their company's name to world wrestling ENTERTAINMENT so the company could use the same name worldwide:ninja:

Hulk said something about how he thinks C.B. and his wife had personal problems but he thinks it was cause Nancy was a devil worshipper.

Well the second recent case means you might be wrong.

The ex-wife of wrestling superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin wants to shed light on that world and the steroid abuse, and rampant domestic violence that she says she survived, and that Nancy Benoit did not.

Poor Woman, just how common is this stuff in pro wrestling?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,287361,00.html

The Benoit tribute says more about him than I ever could...

Things like the crack about some youngsters not being able to dress in the locker room because of Benoit or Triple H's "funny story" about Benoit forcing a wrestler to do over a thousand squats because Chris felt he disrespected Shawn Michaels. I'm sure they were using these examples to paint a picture of Benoit's dedication to the wrestling business, but in hindsight they just make him sound crazy. When I watched it on Youtube I found myself "loling" at the retrospective irony.

It's all still a tragedy though :(.

HANNITY: Was your husband violent? And do you attribute it to the use of steroids?
MARSHALL (Austins former wife):
I tell you what. I know it was — contributed to the use of steroids, because I have seen the steroid rages. I have seen him being paranoid. I have seen his panic attacks. I mean, for three times, I'd seen him attack me — I mean, and at work people would know it, and they would cover the bruises on my face.

Just how common is this turning out to be?

:wow:

That is old news man, that **** happened years ago, it was a pretty big spectacle.

Austin got arrested for beating her back in like 2001 or something, people have known this about him for a very long time.

Debra McMichaels Williams Marshall , yeah... I remember that she cheated on her Husband (Mongo McMichaels) at the time to be with Austin. He was a Mega-star, and as soon as his fame started to wilt and his personal problems (his drinking and drug use) got out of control, she was suddenly a tragic spousal abuse victim and bolted and made a public spectacle out of it (Show me the Money, Mr. Divorce Lawyer).

Yeah, I really don't have much sympathy for this Gold Digger. Cut from the same cloth as Jerry Lawlers little tramp he was hooked up with (Miss Kitty) that cheated on him right after they got Married and ran off with another younger Wrestler.

You say yourself that his drinking and drug use got out of control. Male on female violence is rarely justifiable, especially from hulking steroid using alcoholics.

On the subject of Jerry "The King :whatever:" Lawler, he attacked someone the other week. Damn these wrestling freaks. They all seem at it!!!!

The "roid rage" and mysogeny is rampant look at this foul behaviour from triple H over something very minor.

If you're not going to contribute to the discussion in hand, why post? This thread should not be about forum members. It should be about childrens heroes with clay feet!
