The ones with over 150 backissues, and you'd prefer they have 300+, or the new series?

Like, do you prefer Batman, Superman, Astonishing X-Men...so on and so forth...or do you prefer Blue Beetle (Current) or Thor(Current), Cabke and Deadpool?

I've always liked the 300+ titles. I don't buy new comics really unless it's something by one of my favorite artists'

A lot of it is name recognition. Names like Morrison, Bendis or Johns seem to always be a sure fire hit.

But there are also many less known writers that do amazing work.

If you want the full comic experience, you can't typecast what books you buy. If it's good, get it. If it's crap, don't. Simple.

I'll try almost anything. New or old doesn't matter. I do like to see major characters have consistent numbering, though. That's why I was glad to see ASM and FF and almost all of Marvel's other classic comics return to their original numberings after their various relaunches and stuff. I think DC's got Marvel beat in that respect--they don't feel the need to resort to a new #1 for the temporary, one- or two-issue boost in sales. They'll just bring new talent aboard and market it on the basis of the names and stories.

The new #1's are a lame marketing ploy that I think most people have been able to see through. I'd like to see Captain America and Daredevil (which at least had the actual numbering alongside the new numbering for a while) return to the original numbering. At some point, I'd like to see New Avengers return to it's original numbering, as well as maybe have Mighty Avengers be absorbed back into that title, although I doubt that'll happen.

Nah, I'd prefer not to see New Avengers or Mighty Avengers revert to the classic Avengers numbering. To put it bluntly, they're not the classic Avengers.

Well, I was thinking at some point they would be again. Everything comes full circle, eventually.

Not all of them are lame marketing ploys.

Restarting, say, Blue Beetle to #1 was totally logical, and even having a different volume of Flash or Green Lantern for every different person to hold the title makes a healthy bit of sense. As does New Avengers/Mighty Avengers, IMO. It's when they start restarting - like you said - Captain America or Iron Man or Daredevil - where it gets ridiculous.

If it's a new character, fine. If it's a new creative team/new direction, not fine. How's that?

The only hope they'll return to the classic Avengers' feel is if Bendis leaves them, and he's probably working on the script for NA #500 right now. :(

Probably. But when he leaves, Roger Stern will come back and rule over my life with his awesome Avengers stories.

Well, also when there's HUGE gaps in volumes is it fine. Would you really expect the new Booster Gold series to pick up the numbering of GI JOE Gold or whatever crappy 90s series he was last in?

I would've actually been thrilled if Thor's numbering picked up where it left off.

It'd be awkward, but I wouldn't mind that, either. Imagine the solicitation for that: "Thor returns in this ALL-NEW #598 issue!!"

Maybe once the series gets going, they can do the soft conversion of having the actual numbering beside the new one and eventually do away with the old one all together.

That'd be nice. If the series survives a year, it reverts to the original numbering at #13 (or more likely #8 or 6 by today's standards).

I prefer the series that are written as a whole by a single author. Stories written with a beginning, middle, and end tend to be far better overall in my opinion. The long running titles always become boring, convoluted, and repetitive after only a few years. Like a movie they tell their story with no continuity errors, no retreading the same stories and character studies and completed as a finished work that stands on its own. Preacher and Transmetro are perfect examples of this.

I prefer books to keep their original numbering

I prefer books that are full-on superhero goodness not ashamed of its genre trappings, I like stories with tight interwoven continuity, yet not hampered by its history.

Also anything by guys like Dan Slott, Kirkman, Brubaker and Geoff Johns. Essentially and writer who can stay true to the history of a character and even use the continuity to his/her advantage.

I buy it if I like it, new or seasoned. However, sometimes I won't get into something that's probably good because it's bogged down with a lot of continuity I don't understand...which is pretty much every DC comic these days actually. But, as far as how comic book companies operate, I don't usually like tons of relaunches. Basically, seeing Action Comics #1000 is going to be awesome...whether I end up liking the issue or not.

I can't get into DC heroes for the most part, because their pretty boring and stagnant.

The only DC guys I even bother with are Blue Beetle(Ted Kord) or Guy Gardner. Other than that Vertigo books.
