THE LEGEND OF THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES (1974) starring Peter Cushing
Hammer Films made a Kung Fu vampire film. The leader of a group of Chinese vampires goes to Dracula for help. Dracula instead kills him, and transforms his body to look like the Chinese guy and then goes back to China to rule the area. Unfortunately for him, Professor Van Helsing is on a lecture tour in China. He is approached by a family of Kung Fu vampire hunters for help....and soon Peter Cushing is Kung Fuing his way across China.
Why am I only learning of this film now?

Because the movie is so awesome....all other vampire and Kung Fu movies ganged up to erase it from the world's memory.

Generation Wealth. Like a nonfiction version of a Bret Easton Ellis novel without the sex and violence. It's good to be reminded of this stuff every few years, but I'm not sure the banality of the subjects doesn't defeat the whole thing.

Damn you Chinese Vampire Story and Robo Vampire!

No, seriously, damn you. I hate you both.

Iron Man - been a fair while since my last rewatch. Can really see how this kicked everything off for the GA in particular. Great film.

As awesome as it is to watch this again and again, this movie is not as good as I remember it to be. Ed-209, a failed prototype was manufactured more than once after a failed presentation that made them decline the use of it, not a good business model there.
And then you get Clarence Boddicker, a known felon, walking freely in the high floors of OCP.

Those two things happen regularly in corporate life - failed concepts are placed on the market & convicted people who belong in jail walking corporate life business making deals wasn't that part of what the film was saying or am I being cynical ?

I did not say the failed concept was replaced, I said the failed concept was further manufactured.
Perhaps you're not wrong about the second point, but I was thinking of someone in street stuff only and hardly connected to a corporation.

I didn't say 're-placed', I said placed as in further manufactured and developed. You say tomato...

Halloween III: Season of the Witch

It's not a surprise that I love this movie so much that I watch it every October.

The Hate U Give

It's a movie that is extremely timely and powerful. This does a good job on keeping it pretty focus on what it wants to say about the racial divide without beating you over the head with it. It's got a real dialogue with different perspectives that makes the story more complex than the usual. And it does get pretty serious but there's also plenty of humor that hits at the right places to balance it out. The cast was really good, and Amandla Stenberg is the obvious stand out star. Overall, it's honestly up there with movies like Blindspotting. And where Blindspotting was excellent in the creative and visual side of things... this movie does a really good job in scope and story of the issue.
9.5/10

Halloween (2018)

Brutal and emotionally cathartic slasher. It's a day later and I still can't get over the gorgeous use of shadows and lighting.

Halloween (2018)

While it's foolish to think this will be as good or better than the original, I think this is indeed the true sequel to the original. In some ways, it took a page from recent horror classics like It Follows and add a extra layer of subtext, which helps make this movie really relevant. Some of the better scenes that don't involve Michael Myers are the scenes that deal with Laurie Strode, her daughter, and her granddaughter. It was the strongest original attribute to the movie. That being said, the a lot of movie does fall into fan service mode almost every other scene. I didn't hate it, but I did see through it. And actually some are pretty a pretty clever twist to the original film. The music was not bad, I actually dug a couple of the remixes to the original score. As for Michael Myers himself, he was back to form. There's lots of different kills that hearken back to the franchise. Not really spoiling it, but the best one might be the one that deals with motion lights. While I dug the movie, I didn't absolutely loved it. There's some pacing issues in the middle/early in the 3rd act that doesn't really work. It moves too fast to get to the main course of the movie. Overall, it's a worthy sequel despite it's problems.
