A good Transformers movie, this is a first. Hailee Steinfield made great career choices for 2018 releases.
Transformers designs and coloring and film lighting is a massive improvement to that garbage that came before it. Nods to the cartoon that brought people's attention to the toys and other things related to the franchise are well placed and make even non-fans happy.

The Beach House

Totally my kind of jam. Takes a while to get going but the second half is nonstop bleak cosmic horror. Looking forward to seeing what the director can do with a proper budget.

It's been a pretty good year for Lovecraftian ocean horror movies with this and Underwater.

One thing that bothered me is the Moon King's thoughts on eyes, he wants his grandson to be as blind as he is, but his daughter has her vision. I think even the twin might have their vision.

Confusing beginning, underwhelming dialogue scene direction, generic villain plot, weak score and soundtrack, solid action. By the end it felt like an overly long set up for another movie, guess that makes sense it's based on a comic. I liked Nile's (KiKi Layne) character but was less than enthused by the rest of them. I would have been more interested in the search for that missing female character that I won't name here which I thought might have more to do with the movie but I guess that's just going to have to wait if there's another one but I'm less excited now than I would have been before.
