Highly recommended, especially if you remember this British ski-jumper from the Calgary Olympic Games. This was also the era when Finnish phenomena Matti Nykänen appeared, which was an interesting contrast to Eddie "The Eagle". A nice feelgood story.

The possession of Hannah Grace

Spider-Man Far From Home

Great film and great way to close out phase 3. The effects and visuals used by mysterio particularly against spidey was frikkin incredible; what a mind trip. John Watts did an amazing job. Must see it again.

Spider-Man Far from Home

7/10 in a good day. I'm skipping a 2nd theaterical viewing because I simply didn't enjoy it. And this is coming after 4 theaterical viewings of Endgame and playing the ps4 Spider-Man. Like I thought I would like it but nah.

Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)

I probably would have gone easier on this had I not also watched Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 this weekend. Far elevated, as was the case with Homecoming, by Holland and the lead villain’s performances (an ever committed Jake Gyllenhaal.)

(P.S. I really didn’t intend for my avatar to function as visual aid for this reaction. A welcomed coincidence.)

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Improvement over Homecoming, with Watts actually injecting some visual style into the action setpieces. Boasts a stronger thematic core and a wildly entertaining Jake G as Mysterio.

8/10

ALITA, BATTLE ANGEL
QUALITY = 8/10
JOY = 9/10

Oh my God, a good and fun American live action movie based on manga (Japanese comics), even if it is an obvious sequel bait from halfway through to the end.

After watching both this and Captain Marvel though, I stand by saying Captain Marvel is being underrated as both a film and a character even as this one is a mildly better movie, one reason is that movie's threads get resolved and fill the arc before the movie ends instead of being a sequel bait.
I agree about liking Alita more than Carol though.

I said it once every paragraph, and I'll say it again; the Amazing Spider-Man 2 plots were resolved in that movie and it is reputed as a sequel bait, but this one really is a sequel bait.

Poor Edward Norton is not credited as Nova, and it's funny to see him here when one of the film scenes reminds me of Brazil chase in the ever so underrated Incredible Hulk.

I think a 90s film filter would suit this movie perfectly fine, something about this setting makes me instantly think 90s movies from start to end.

Chocolate, I want some chocolate.

I thought you'd watch the Disney animated Hunchback of Notre-Dame to go along with your Hunchback of Notre-Dame movies list.

YESTERDAY

A world in which no one remembers The Beatles....say it aint so...

PRAISE:An interesting set up in which a struggling musician Jack Malik (Himesh Patel)is hit by a bus during a worldwide black out and awakens to a world in which one of the worlds greatest bands The Beatles never existed.

To watch the characters moral struggles and frustrations in which he wants the world to know the music of The Beatles but gains fame by singing and taking credit for writing their classic songs is only one of the films joys.
The second is the relationship Jack has with
his manager/best friend, Ellie (Lily James). They have such great chemistry i wanted them to have more screen time together.
Kate McKinnon was pretty funny as music manager Debra Hammer who is blatantly insulting to Jack.Praise to musician Ed Sheeran who allows himself to be humbled in the film.

Then of course you have the music,i couldnt help but tap my foot or hum along as the music of The Beatles blared through the theatre speakers
There is a beautiful moment in the final 20 minutes of the film that will hit the emotional chords of every Beatles fan.

PROBLEMS:The film fortunately is able to recover from some obnoxious moments and some repetitive stalls in the middle of the film, that were extremely noticeable.

In the end i feel i was given something that was original and took a chance, plus a great tribute to The Beatles music, influence and love for the art.

Midsommar

And another reason why i will NEVER attend a Maypole festival !!

PRAISE:

The story of an already off balance woman named Dani (Florence Pugh) who suffers an extremely tragic loss, tags along with her boyfriend Christian (Jack Reynor) and his friends Josh (William Jackson Harper), and Mark (Will Poulter), and foreign student Pelle (Wilhelm Blomgren)to a commune in Sweden much to the indifference and chagrin of the friends who feel she has become to clingy to Christian.

Things are pleasant and laid back at first but soon the hippie smoke cloud starts to fade away and the true nature and horror of the commune shines through.

Pugh is absolutely incredible as Dani i couldnt help but feel something for the character as she gives a performance filled with raw emotion, her cries and screams stirred my soul.
A lot of the actors display good humor, and tense portrayals, some perform with poker faces which i appreciated because it enhanced what was to come.
The film is visually stunning as Director Ari Aster chooses landscapes an longshots in a sometimes dizzying but memsmerizing way.
The violence and gore are extremely dwelling and not for the faint of heart.
Even if one manages to look away, the film says oh did you miss that gore?,well here it is again and again.
I cant recall being shocked, amused and horrified by a number of sequences in a film over and over again.

PROBLEMS:
I couldnt go along with the lack of common sense of some of the characters, and sure something happens to them that can eliminate my problem, but there is a window of oppurtunity the characters had that wasnt used in my opinion.
Some scenes are way over the top with violence and sex so much so i and the audience started to laugh...but maybe the Director and writers wanted that from the audience(?)

Im giving the film a high rating not only for everything i praised it about but because i went in knowing i would be shocked and longing to see something very different.
