I still really like Rise of the Machines, as unnecessary as it is. But i like Genisys, too, as unnecessary as it is as well. I have no interest in Dark Fate, I'm just gonna watch it because I already paid for the next year of movies.

Lost Highway - 9/10
Mysterious, insane, sexually charged, and mesmerizing. I know what to expect when I see a David Lynch film, but I always seem unprepared. This is the closest he has come to making a horror film (well...Eraserhead counts too I guess). Though I have a general idea of its themes and plot, I’m not going to analyze this too much. Im comfortable knowing the basics and letting the atmosphere totally engulf my senses. And I think this is now my 2nd favorite in his filmography, with Mulholland Drive still at #1 (though I’m long overdue for a rewatch on that one.)

The Before Trilogy - 9.5/10
These movies blew me away by their depiction of love and relationships. Easily some of the best writing, acting, and directing I’ve ever seen.

The Peanut Butter Falcon

Enjoyable for the most part. It's a pretty standard indie flick that takes elements from other typical indie films, but it's pretty much a Huckleberry Finn style adventure. The movie is at its best when it's just Shia LaBeouf and Zack Gottsagen on screen. It also doesn't really go out their way to sugar coat anything, which was refreshing. However, I thought the Dakota Johnson character only exists as a love interest and also they do some illogical things with her character. For better or worse, I thought the ending was hilariously entertaining. Overall, at it's core, the movie is pretty conventional that's got a couple of really good moments.

The Fanatic

Absolutely bizarre. I will say it's John Travolta like you've never seen him before. The movie plays out like a very bad version of Misery and I am Sam. Travolta plays an autistic man who's obsessed over a movie star and it only escalates from there. Fred Durst directs it and I gotta say it starts off kinda promising. There's some interesting establishing shots and narration that tricks you into thinking it's some neo-Taxi Driver. Once it gets into the main plot, you start to see the cracks with the awful dialogue and characters. I don't really know what to think of Travolta's performance, he really does commit to the character, but it's all poorly mismanaged by the script. It's also extremely low budget so there's not a lot of room to work with. The last 30 minutes is somehow predictable and unpredictable at the same time. Overall, it's one of the best bad movies of the year.

Interesting movie. Not exactly what you would expect. Starts off like a nature documentary (puppy, lost in the woods, plays with a variety of animals) then becomes what you think of as a Lassie film (young teen girl finds puppy and raises it) then steers into the unexpected (dog accidentally winds up in the army during WWII, and because of it's war experiences suffers PTSD) then as dog is being transported to the hospital, he escapes into the woods, kills farmer's chickens to eat, is hunted down as a vicious animal, and winds up in a trial for it's life where the fact that it has PTSD is used for it's defense (and in analogy with what the returning soldiers are suffering),

Batman Begins

Of the Nolan trilogy, this is still my favourite Batman-story of them. TDK is a more interesting movie over all (and has more.. tension and other great stuff, lol), and of course that brilliant re-imagination of the Joker with Ledger's iconic performance.

But as a Batman-centric story, with the origin and all, I'd say it's the greatest Batman story on film yet. IMHO, that is. And yeah, I'm aware that a flick called Batman Begins automatically focuses more of Bats himself than the sequels. But still.
