What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

Over the weekend, I watched both this and the reboot and, while I definitely enjoyed the reboot FAR more than I was expecting (it was my first time watching it), I also found the twist to be quite dull and lacking in any of the intended shock value.

The lady playing Lara was also surprisingly charming, I thought, but I think I still prefer Jolie's more confident and intrinsically seductive Lara. The first film itself is ultimately just more fun and it delivers on showing the audience a damn good time.

I like the reboot and I'm looking forward to the sequel, but in a perfect world they'd have made a third Lara Croft movie with Angelina Jolie. I say all this as someone who has never played the games, mind.

I agree. The Jolie movies are more fun to watch than the reboot.

I'm one of the very few people who LOVE both of these movies! So much, in fact, that if the 3rd one ever gets made, it's got potential to be one of my favorite trilogies of all time.

Card switch in the second movie is one of my favorite BS moments in film, it's so charmingly awesome.

A lot of movies that feature a dog (or cat, pet in general) where there is a lethal antagonist have said pet killed off to show how deadly the antagonist is. And it is a cheap way to hit at people who have pets emotionally because a lot of movies can't think of a better method.

Halloween has done this with Michael Myers killing and partially eating a dog. John Wick's entire premise is killing the dog, the shark movie Meg did it with a mother and daughter humpback whale pair (though admittedly fits with giant sharks, they still set up the emotional impact with a baby whale and her mother), the trope is so prevalent the site Does the Dog Die? exists for that very reason.

I like creature movies but the laziness of killing a family pet is tiresome.

The first Alien movie feels unique now knowing the cat survived, and served as warning when the monster approached.

This is a glorious succession of posts, a coincidence that deserves admiring.

I don't intend to try the sequel, but I do love the first movie and find it an underrated movie.

It wasn't a coincidence. Yesterday afternoon I bought the third one for $3,50 at WalMart. Decided to do a marathon. One and three definitely worth watching. The second one is a jumbled mess. Stallone is barely in it, but they spread him out throughout the whole movie to give the impression he's in it more. And compared to the other twi, it is a pure in the future sci fi/action flick.

Skyline and currently Beyond Skyline the sequel that came out 7 years later and has some inconsistencies to it.

There is a third movie in the works I have read. It's from the Strauss Brothers who totally wrecked Alien vs Predator: Requiem but this is moderately better work out of them.

Just saw it for the first time.
I get what they were trying to accomplish, which is a modern, R-rated comedy with the sweetness of John Hughes' movies, and the cast was great and made the movie fun (and worth watching at least once)... BUT, it could have and should have been FUNNIER, and more inventive with its gags. Which is a shame, as it had much more potential and a GREAT cast.
On a side note, I wouldn't have complained if the direction and photography had been more cinematic, either.

PRAISE: Sometimes i forget how great some movies are until i channel surf and boom there's a favorite and the clicker is put down

Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal had incredible chemistry and comic timing.Loved the running gag with Hines consistently and constantly "arresting" the lovely Tracy Reed so they could spend time together.One of those films that really needed a sequel because it would have been great to see the two leads collaborate again.Plus Michael McDonald singing Sweet Freedom....
