Started off strong with a great performance by Ethan Hawke along with plenty of creepy atmosphere, but unfortunately it loses me in the second half. There was so much potential here.
The dreams and the dead kids talking through the phone felt like it came out of nowhere. I wish the movie just kept playing it straight forward with the Grabber kidnapping kids while leaving the supernatural stuff out of it.
overall, a 7/10. I liked it, but this is the second horror film this year that hasn't lived up to the hype for me, with the first being X.
6/10 - I admire its commitment to being a silly, over the top adventure. Unfortunately it’s too long and all the genre mashups didn’t quite work for me.
Went in without knowing what happens. I heard this was bad, and didn't think it was that bad in the beginning, then it took that awkward turn in the middle which was weird, but then that Jacob Tremblay line happened and the wheels fell off the ****ing car and over a cliff and from that point on, it was a deranged, baffling disaster with a lot of laughs along the way! What a trip!
