The Flash What would change if things were different in the Season 1 finale?

Say if in the Season 1 finale, Eobard/Wells had been successful in travelling back home in the future, would he still be in the same timeline as Barry (Eobard's original timeline), or the timeline where Barry became The Flash at a later date (2020 I think)?

Eobard's original timeline had Barry becoming Flash in 2020. He killed Nora Allen and thus altered that timeline, since he had to speed up Barry becoming the Flash. When he went back to the future, it would be a continuation of the current timeline, but it would be a different situation then Eobard was used to.

At least that's what my limited knowledge of time travel and paradoxes leads me to believe.
