What I would have done first is not spend so much time on building the device.

We could still start with Reed as a kid, same basic stuff, show how he and Ben connect, show Reed's first demonstration of the device. Opening credits or title.

Jump forward to show Reed and Ben as they showcase their experiment to the government for funding. The project is approved and they're placed under their head of research, which is Susan and Johnny's father. Ben is an engineer. Same as Johnny. This is what could kick off a bit of rivalry between Johnny and Ben.

The project would be funded by the American Government and the nation of Latveria to help discover a means, by teleportation to combat a set of underground terrorist cells called the Moloids led by a former nuclear engineer and exlporer who was now calling him self the Mole man that have been attacking government bases and stealing technology, including Latverian ones. The Monarch of the nation Victor Von Destin, destin I read is romanian for doom (I'm sorry I just couldn't reconcile someone walking around with the last name "doom" in english), asks to oversee the project as well, being a scientist like Reed himself. What the American government doesn't know is that Victor plans to steal the tech for his own use, believing the applications to have more promise than mere teleportation after failed attempts at trying to accomplish the same feat himself and discovering an energy power source far beyond what anyone has ever seen.

Montage through the building of the device. Susan and Reed connect. Susan is the assigned biologist. Reed is the physicist. And Johnny and Ben are the two engineers on the project.

When they successfully use the device, Victor allows his men into the first demonstration to sabotage it and steal the tech, but this causes a tear between the N-zone and earth which disrupts the mission of the four and causes a severe accident. Their containment suits rip open and the four to be exposed to the cosmic energy in the N-zone. The four manage to escape, but an explosion of cosmic energy causes all the tech to be destroyed, horribly scarring Victor. Ben gets the worst of the cosmic energy due to him throwing himself on top of Reed to protect him. Which makes Reed feel responsible.

This would all be within the first 30-40 minutes.

The next twenty would be about them discovering their abilities. While Victor, severely damaged has his scientists build a cybernetic suit for him to help his body, as he's so badly hurt he can't walk. He tells them to use remnants of the N-zone energy they found as a power source.

The four discover the government wants to use them. They refuse, but are practically forced to do it as a secret task force under the duress that they either do that or be lab rats. The public discovers who they are via found footage released to the press and they become famous. Victor discovers this and becomes enraged that they gained powers, while he's become deformed and forced to live in his cybernetic suit. He discovers that his suit, being powered by the remnants of the N-zone energy, can give off energy allowing for inhuman abilities, what he says the less educated would call magic. He tries to use that to create abilities for himself but cannot. He then vows to steal the the four's abilities for himself and use them to amass more power and domination over the world.

When the Mole man attacks another one of his bases, Victor catches him and makes a deal with him: If he attacks another American government base as a way to lure the four to him, he'll give him all the tech he needs for what he knows he's stealing it for: As a means to continue his exploration to prove his hollow earth theory.

That's what happens. Mole man escapes. Victor proclaims himself Doctor Doom, and, using the N-zone, which he uses the rebuilt device to tear a hole open into, powers his suit to supreme enhancement. This could swallow up the entire planet. They tell him this, but Doom is too arrogant to listen. He believes he can control the N-zone and all it's power.

They defeat Doom. He's locked up or something. They quit the government, saying that there's nothing that the government can do to them now with the fact they've saved the world and they've become known to the world. They call themselves the Fantastic Four in front of the press while being asked several questions and being mobbed by them. The End.

Maybe a post credits scene involving Mole man discovering the hollow earth.

What do you think? Please tell me.

What are your ideas as well?

I would've given the rights back.

:)

I would have included the Fantastic Four in the movie and not just used the title for an unrelated Chronicle sequel

Regarding the OP scenario, I would not have the FF defeat Doom in his first appearance, while leaving Mole Man for a sequel. Doom should be a looming threat over the entire franchise, not a guy they introduce and defeat in the first film.

Eh. The looming threat thing to me is over done. I like self contained stories. But he wouldn't be done. He'd still have a potential play for future stories. Is that the only thing you a problem with in my idea? I'm surprised.

I just feel like Doom is a Thanos level Big Bad (not as powerful, but public perception-wise he is one of THE villains in comics). When he throws down, it's a HUGE deal. You don't have him fight the FF and lose his first time out.

Otherwise...yeah...not really many issues. You covered his face getting scarred etc...which I didn't even consider because I don't care about that issue...but your explanation worked to tie it in with him hating the FF.

EDIT: Also, I think Mole Man is a stupid idea, so I'd probably radically change the concept if I ever used it.

Thank you very much.

I can see where you're coming from. It's just not my personal taste for the story.

The Mole man was a last minute addition actually. lol. Originally it was just terrorists, but then I realized that I didn't really have a conclusion to that really and it would just be left hanging in the story, so I thought for a second and used the Mole man. Do you mean that the character in general is a stupid idea, or just my idea? :yay:

Storyline-
Set the movie in the 60's and have it that the FF want to get into space to win the space race.
That's the motivation right there.

Make Doom human and stop trying to tie his origin in with the FF. Two movies and neither works.
It works when the FF have fantastic powers but their greatest villain is HUMAN.
Just like Superman and Lex Luther.

Play up the animosity between Ben and Reed. Reed has effectively ruined Ben's life so there should be some serious resentment.

With regards to the special effects.
The Human torch has looked terrible in every movie incarnation.
The special effects people should be looking at stunts with men on fire and trying to emulate that so it looks REAL.

The Invisible Woman's powers should be INVISIBLE. You should see the effects the force fields have on objects not the force fields themselves. For instance if she scoops water out of the see you should only see the water raising out of the sea not a blue coloured force field.

The Thing should look like The Thing in the comics, not a rock pile.

Mr Fantastic powers should be about variety. Like Elasti girl in The Incredibles. From making yourself into a balloon, to a rocket to a windmill. It shouldn't be just about stretching the limbs. I mean, how boring is that?

Give it back to Marvel. Fox have no clue how to make a good FF movie.

If you're going to make a Fantastic Four film, you should focus on the family first. I'm not saying government intervention and other conspiracies (you know, what passes for "serious and dark stuff" these days) can not work, but they shouldn't overshadow the fact that this team is basically a surrogate family (and not just some black-ops group) the same way the X-men are bonded by their condition as mutants.

For all of it's fauls, even the 2005 film understood that.

I would have also retooled the characters of Johnny and Doom. Johny had zero charisma and even in the stronger first half, seemed like a whiny teen from an angsty CW show with no character who is just there because... Personally I hated his Fast and Furious intro. Well, just because. And Doom for some reason was turned into Tetsuo from Akira. Now, that isn't necessarily bad, but the actual Tetsuo had a personal animosity with Kaneda (not unlike the original Doom with Reed Richards) which made things compelling. None of that was there.

I basically agree. I kinda skimmed over that in my treatment, but I did want that in play as well. Showing them bond. Showing them learning how to work together. The character arcs. I got caught up in putting the story out and figured I could just explain them if I was asked. What'd you think?

This is kind of a cheesy excerpt I just came up with off the top of my head for when the group would visit Victor's mansion or castle or something and they run into armor, with the Doctor Doom faceplate.

Victor: Sorry for the armor.
Reed: What is it?
Victor: It's a ceremonial faceplate worn by my ancestors when they would go ride into battle. It was a symbolism for their inevitable win: Cold and unfeeling, without an ounce of mercy. It's the same tactics I apply to this day. I leave it out as a reminder that I come from a family of kings.
Susan: It sounds more like conquerors.
Victor: Well, Ms. Storm, that's not what the history books say, and believe me, history is written by the victor... hm, interesting.*smirk*

It's pretty cheesy, but I found it okay.

I haven't seen the film so I can't say much really lol

Simple, allowed the director to tell his story.

what I posted in another thread :

I would like if they did a movie with the earth 616 space rocket origin story (with a villain other than doom), and in the sequel they introduce a alternate universe where the teaam gained their powers in a ultimate marvel way...

and the team form that other universe used the transporter that they used to travel to the negative zone to travel to earth 616 to warn everyone that galactus is coming to destroy their dimension, like he did with the ultimate one...

at the middle of the movie, let the 616 team open a secret box and discovering that inside it is the ultimate universe doom, that was caught in the transporter incident and won powers (like sue in trank's film)

kill the silver surfer, and let the ultimate doom take is place and become god-like, in a homenage to his current god status in the comics...

it would also be interesting so see interactions between the 616 (not-powered) doom and the ultimate doom, and make the 616 doom realize that it is his destiny to become the fantastic four's enemy

If you are asking what would I have done differently with the Fantastic Four movie if I was in control of Fox, then the question should really be what would I have still done the same with the Fantastic Four movie if I was in control of Fox, because the list would be infinitely shorter.

From a fan perspective though I wouldn't want anything done differently, because I wasn't hoping for a good Fantastic Four movie put out by Fox, I only care about seeing a great Fantastic Four movie established inside the MCU. So, really for me this trainwreck of a movie is a dream come true and I would say things could not have worked out better.

Surfer

How do you NOT pass an open-book test??? The FF directors have 50 plus years of history to pull from..........the answer given to them on a silver plater and yet both decided to ignore the source material....
