Although this movie wasn't that good...What did it get right...And please, no bashing of any sort!

...For me...I thought Hugh again did a really good job as Wolive, the only guy who can play him! Also, I thought Kelsey Grammer as Beast was really good, maybe the only person to play that character as well!

...What else?

Nothing that a decent capable director, writing team, and production studio couldn't do, and better.

A brilliant and brooding score composed by John Powell.

The Danger Room sequence.

Introduction of Kitty as a major character, played by the wonderful Ellen Page.

A Psylocke cameo (even if I wanted way more of her).

A great, great, great last shot.

A more cinematically green-ish color palette as opposed to the slightly blue-ish that X2 was.

The Jean's house sequence. Second favorite sequence in all the X-films behind the Jet sequence in X2.

Dark Phoenix killing Xavier - that was my favorite scene in the entire trilogy, actually. And it's the one 'death' that I was ok with, in the context of the film.

Storm flying - I'm glad there was lots of flying.

Beast and Kitty Pryde were acted by great actors.

Having the X-Men fight as a TEAM

A very dramatic (and expensive looking) final battle sequence with Dark Phoenix. The other films had good final battles, but X3's was more dramatic and action-packed, imo.

Jown Powell's score.

The score.

Beast and Kitty.

I'll say the Jean's old neighborhood sequence as well, great scene.

Storm flying.

That's about it.

The cast of Ellen Page, Ben Foster and Kelsey Grammer.... and some minor roles too.

The improvement of the action, comparing with previous movies.

Some tracks of the Score.

I'd say nothing more... by now.

Haha sweet. I kinda thought I was the only one who noticed this. At least I was among all my friends.

I actually prefer the blue tones.

-Phoenix kills Xavier
-Kitty
-Beast
-Score
-The X-Men making a grand entrance in a battle, a la comics.

I like more the tone of the previous movies, specially in X1. It feels more like a drama, than an action film.

Pretty much agree with those.

Honourable mentions (off the top of my head)...

Iceman vs Pyro
Magneto taking on the Golden Gate bridge
Dark Phoenix end sequence on Alcatraz

Agreed.

The score rocks for the Phoenix's theme alone. Just pure epicness. It's the Phoenix personafied in a song.

It's so haunting and moving in the scene with Xavier.

EDIT: In fact the scene at Jean's old house and the funeral scene that follows are the only scenes in the movie that envokes any kind of feelings from me at all, you are on the edge of your seat the whole time then screaming inside with Magneto...''JEANNNN. NO!" You actually feel for every character involved in that scene at the moment in some way. It's brilliantly paced, and acted. Every character is spot on in those scenes. Even Storm. Her speech at the funeral is beautiful and meaningful.

The showdown at the Grey residence is probably my favorite scene in the series.

I did hate that Cyclops got killed so early and this movie focused so much on Wolverine again.

I was thinking about this the other day though, and I was thinking the way the Phoenix was depicted as a part of Jean struggling to be free, someone who was manipulated by Xavier, really gave her a connection to Logan.

It just gave more weight to their relationship rather than Wolverine being infatuated with someone that was "too good" for him or Jean flirting with the bad guy.

I think Mystique deserves an honourable mention too. She did a great job again in the few scenes she was in.

For me it was Storm's flying and the battle sequence at the end, even though I expected more, but still, so overall, this film has better action sequences

It didnt get much right to be fair, The score was great, as were Pyro, Beast, Cyclops and Jean (though the Pheonix scene's were mostly dissapointing). And it was nice to see Storm flying and shooting lightning from her hands.

- Cinematography
- Action sequences (Phoenix at Grey's House=best scene of trilogy)
- Wardrobe / Hair (Singer made them look frumpy and outdated)
- Great final scene (Magneto playing chess)
- Comics played a larger role here (Danger Room, Cannonball Special, Cure, etc.)
- Beast (Secretary of Mutant Affairs, brilliant)

What did it get right? Hmmm...that's a tough one. Most of the returning cast was great except for Halle Berry. The X-Men finally managed to work as a team. Iceman vs. Pyro was pretty cool. Kelsey Grammar as Beast was excellent. The final battle sequence starting with Magneto moving the Golden Gate Bridge was amazing. That's all I can think of really.

Yes! Especially Powell's score. Storm's flying bothered me. I wanted her to fly, but I don't think it was portrayed very well at all. :csad:

I didn't like the flying either. The only scene I thought looked cool was at Jean's house before she was going to go into tornado mode.

- Kelsey Grammer as Beast (Although beast himself didn't look all that great.)
- Score
- Bobby finally turning into ice
- Phoenix going crazy and tearing everything apart
- X-Men as a team

I think that's it.

I still didn't see any real teamwork in X-3 that keeps being mentioned. At least no more than in the first two movies.

I do agree with the score however. I like the first two movies' scores as well, but X-3 did have a bit extra umph to it.

That's because there isn't any. It' the same pattern--arrive as a team and split into individual battles.
