Please bare with me as I am a fan of the film franchise but not familiar with the comics...I just saw The Last Stand and thought the Beast character was great (I was really expecting Frasier out of Kelsey Grammer...).

Anyway, throughout he is Beast and speaks to Storm of his non-ability to blend in with society (this I assumed met he always was big, blue and hairy). Now that I have viewed X2 again (my personal fave), I see that Dr. McCoy is on the TV when mystique (as Grace) is "seducing" the prison guard in the bar. On the TV, the good Dr. is as human as you and I. Am I missing something?

Any help with my naivete would be appreciated! :O

In the books, he didn't start off with the blue fur. That does not come from his mutant abilities, just like Wolverine's claws are from implanted adamantium but his actual mutant power is his healing factor. The fur came much later, in Amazing Adventures. His popularity increased more after that so it did make sense that they would choose the blue Beast for the movie. The weakness that bothered me with this was exactly what you mentioned. He was seen in his pre-blue form in X2 and yet no explanation was given as to why he had changed. Maybe we are supposed to just fill those blanks in based on the books or maybe that's a backstory that will be explained in a future movie.

Beast got the fur because of an experiment he did on himself. I think in X2 it was just meant to be taken as a cameo and not to be tied with X3's Beast. And I think he wore a holographic thing that changed him to look normal.

I'm thinking the same thing, in X2 that was just thrown in to make the fans kind of jump in their seats, it wasn't anything big.

My friend assumed that his fur started to appear sometime between X2 and X3. I thought it was too convenient that he was a mutant ally, and then hey, whaddya know, he happens to be a mutant too. But, meh....

That's how I took it.

Before getting the fur he looked like a big gorilla. Big feet, hands and he walked like a monkey. He should've walked that way in X3 as well but they chose not to do that.

I didn't care about that. He's a member of the Presidential cabinet; he should be able to walk upright & have a sense of dignity.

it reminds me the evolution of Hank McCoy 'à la' X-Men Evolution, you know, not yet blue, but evolving!

That was a terrible cartoon & a terrible depiction of Beast.

simple...deep deep plotehole....

the last stand is fully of them, you need a range rover just to make it to the end...

I questioned this too. what i found when trying to look in to this is to just assume to ignore it. if you have a hard time just over looking things like this, I’d say, pretend he was using a holographic thing, or that he used a double to do TV appearance for him, as at the time people seeing a mutant on TV wouldn't of be a good thing, were in the set up of this movie, mutants are a lil more accepted, and Hank is a well respect member of a government cabinet, as secretary of mutant defends.

Actually, this is true in the books as well. Wolverine's actual mutant ability is his healing ability. It was because of this that he was the perfect recipient to receive the adamantium skeleton and claws. No one else's system would have been able to handle it.

Actually, no it isn't. Wolverine's claws are part of his mutation. it was revealed shortly after the "Fatal Attractions" storyline.

it was revealed that his claws were a part of his actual skeletal structure all along, but, they still put he mental on them, so, the mental claws were still not part of his mutation. just to farther clearify

which that actully sounds pretty lame anyway, he was born with bone claws, c'mon.
