Age of Ultron What you DIDN'T like in Avengers: Age of Ultron (SPOILERS)

I wanted Thor and Hulk to have more screentime in the final battle.

But that's a minor fanboy nitpick at best.

I have no gripes about the action in the movie, but a lot of the drama seemed to fall flat to me. I thought the film lacked the sincerity of the original and a lot of story-driven moments felt forced.

My main gripes:

- Trying to use Hawkeye and his "secret" family as the emotional backbone of the movie
- The twins came off as pretty lame to me, overall. Elizabeth Olsen is super hot and a great actress, but I felt that she didn't get to show her chops. Also, her accent sucked.
- A little too much setting up for future films, that made much AOU feel like a placeholder and commercial for the next round of films to come
- Some questionable editing that made it obvious some things were cut out or trimmed down
- Ultron came off as a little too much of a cheeseball to me. I get what they were trying to do and that he was meant to be like the "evil" progeny of Stark, but I wasn't thrilled with the characterization.

The scene at Hawkeye's house was too long IMO. It affected the pacing of the movie.

Also, I wanted to see more of Ultron's development. We went Iron Legion scraps to sitting on a throne.

Overall, it was a great movie, but I feel they edited it too much for time and the story's pacing suffered.

My biggest gripe, actually, was that the final fight against the Ultron bots felt way too familiar and almost like a redux of the Chitari fight. The Avengers vs. another army of identical opponents that were running, jumping, climbing, and flying around.

It was like a grander version of the end of Iron Man 2 when Stark and War Machine take down the Hammer bots.

I wanted Ultron to be more menacing and evil, but he ended up a cartoony hammy villain

Pretty much it boils down to Pietro's death and the film's editing. I think most of the flaws were probably created on the cutting room floor.

Cap and Thor cgi in the beginning.
The mystic pool parts with Thor.
I would have preferred Ultron to manhandle any of the Avengers easily, one on one.
Would also have preferred Hulk to calm and jump away himself in the South Africa scene, and allow himself to revert to Banner.

I thought the way Ultron was defeated was pretty weak and anticlimactic.

1) The continued lack of power, authority and leadership Thor is supposed to have.
2) The scenes at Hawkeye's place. Waste of film.
3) Quicksilver dying.
4) Ultron coming back again after the scene with the Scarlet Witch.
5) Final defeat of Ultron. Should have been reverse order, with the very final defeat being with the SW.
6) Over use of Hawkeye (How can he NOT run out of arrows?!?)
7) Thor not being able to think of anything to say after the "son of Odin" bit.
8) Hulk spitting out his tooth. Ridiculous.
9) Ultron too corny.
10) Little too much leadership from Cap for me, and again, not near enough from Thor.

That Quicksilver died. MAJOR piss off.

??? Since when has Thor ever been known as a Avenger team leader? Has he lead a team in the comics?

Also, does EVERY Marvel movie have to use the "someone dies, but not really, they're okay!" plot device?

In this movie it was Jarvis, but it seems to happen every. Single. Movie.

it was condensed. that evasive balance between storytelling and running time.

this is one of those films where if it even ran the full 3 hrs 15 min (which Joss said was the original cut) it wouldnt have felt that long. but it had to be buthchered down to 2 hrs and a half and we got what we got.

this is why streaming content like Netflix is the future guys. no more wrangling with the greedy theater people
