aside from the many different origin stories and out of canon stuff, whats supes up to in the reg dc universe

i mean, i see him in all the crossovers...but he's like just there...whats up with him?

kandor was de-minaturized causing thousands of kryptonians to be hanging out on earth. everyone got pissed, so the kryptonians left earth to a new krypton, which is in opposite orbit of earth. superman was all "WTF is going on?" and he left earth to live on new krypton to keep an eye on them, under the guise that he's rejected earth. all this is taking part in a 12 issue book titled new krypton. in the mean time, in the regular superman titles, they're featuring other characters like mon-el.

What happened to Lois, his marriage and his duty to Earth?

He just abandoned everybody like in SR?

he talked to lois about it, along with others close to him. they all understood and was supportive. it wasnt a decision he made lightly. he made sure other heroes he trusted, such as steel and mon-el, would fill the void left by his absence.

To elaborate a little more, while he's on New Krypton, he's gotten embroiled in a civil uprising between some of the various Guilds that make up their culture. Since he grew up on Earth and therefore never took up a Guild of his own, Kal got to choose one, and ended up joining the Military Guild, if only to keep a closer eye on their leader--the recently-freed General Zod (the Kandorians weren't around when Zod tried to take over Krypton, so they still revere him as a hero, and they don't believe Kal's pleas that Zod is evil)

Back on Earth, a few different heroes have stepped in to watch over Metropolis, like Mon-El and Steel (as mentioned). There's also a new Nightwing/Flamebird team, this Nightwing actually being Lor-Zod/Chris Kent (the Kryptonian boy from "Last Son"), and they're busy tracking down a bunch of different 'sleeper' Kryptonians that Zod had left on Earth during their invasion back in "Last Son," in order to take over the Earth in secret.

Also, a bunch of Supes' villains were rounded up by the Kryptonians and chucked into the Phantom Zone, but in doing so, they also killed a few policemen who were trying to stop them (which is what led to the big conflict that forced them to leave Earth) A few of them are still running around, particularly Lex Luthor (who has been freed from prison by General Lane in order to come up with anti-Kryptonian weapons and whatnot in case they try to invade again) and Brainiac (who was 'captured' by the military and is basically laying low until he find the right moment)

That's the long and the short of what's going on with Superman these days.

new krypton is absolutely terrible. why would Supes leabve Earth?

DC is getting more & more ******ed by the day!

why would he leave? did you read the story? you know, he's left earth plenty of times before.

right now, i'd say the story itself is pretty mediocre. but we're only a few issues in, so we'll see how it plays out. but i dont see why the story couldnt take place in the regular superman title. that bugs me the most.

Yeah... the stuff that DiDio is greenlighting makes me wretch.

This New Krypton story-line is convoluted and awful. DC needs new leadership.

One of the worst elements is what they're doing with Mon-El. Not to say that there aren't equally bad concepts floating thru the whole storyline. I'm thinking of cancelling my subscription to a lot of the DC books ... starting with this one.
