From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris

The best in the series yet. I had quite a few issues with Sookie in this one but she had her likable moments.

The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander:
1) The Book of Three
2) The Black Cauldron

Book of Longing by Leonard Cohen. This is a collection of poetry accompanied by some of Cohen's drawings. I'm quite the fan of Cohen's poetry, but a lot of this seemed to be not much more than stuff he just scribbled down from time to time with no serious intent. There were some rather good poems, and I really enjoyed those, but I think the best stuff in the book can be found among his drawings. Recommended for Cohen fans, but for those new to Cohen, I recommend starting elsewhere.

I just finished Gulliver's Travels, and my ending thoughts were "Holy ****, he really let humanity have it." Language is very dated, but its a great satire. Now I'm starting on Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep.

Skin by Ted Dekker.

Dekker is a master of dimestore horror and cheap thrills. I don't think he's especially insightful. He doesn't provide a great look into the human condition, or any particular thoughtful probing of society, but I enjoy his books nonetheless. They're great for a plane ride or a lazy Friday afternoon when it's pouring out. He does, indeed, know how to handle suspense, which proves to cast an illusion of characterization over his stories. His elegant weaving of plot details that were clearly planned in advance is interesting. Much like a season of 24, Dekker left me saying, "wow. So that's why that happened," with the conclusion of the novel. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Master of dimestore horror and cheap thrills? I think he's a bit better than that, I'd say a great deal better. I haven't read Skin yet, but I have read a few of his other books and have greatly enjoyed them. Like you said, he definitely knows how to handle suspense, as I am usually always on the edge of my seat with his books, but I also think he does well with his characters and most of the time they are fully fleshed out and complex.

The last book I read was a few months back and it was a Ted Dekker novel, Black. When my finals are over I plan to re-read the next book in the Circle Trilogy, Red.

I read the 5th one first, that got me hooked. I've been reading the first 4 all this week, now I'm gonna re-read the 5th again.

Yeah, just came out last month.

That's good to hear. I was disappointed with the 4th but now i really want to get the 5th.

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. I thought it was great, but everyone else I know who read it thought it was awful. I like old people books.

The Dresden Files novel series by Jim Butcher, I'm reading the newest novel titled "Turn Coat".

I'm thinking about reading that. Did you like it? Is it worth purchasing?

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, but I liked it. Hitchens is an effective writer, who shows knowledge of what he's against and can lay out an argument. Now that it's in paperback, I'm sure you can get a great deal.

I just finished the first 12 books of the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and book one of Belgariad by David Eddings and I'm half way thru Starship Troopers which is one of the boringest reads I've even been thru. I don't know how this book is only 275 pages. I feel like I've been reading it forever and it just won't end!

Well done, sir! How long did it take you to read all of those?

A while; nearly 5 weeks. I actually finished reading the Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman right after. I actually forgot about that one.

I read the Stand, The Rising, and The Mist late last year, I started The Andromeda Strain and The Risings Sequel "City of the dead" a while ago and have yet to finish them :(

I liked it, but then again I'd probably take anything with the flock in it. There was just too much preaching in it... I could've done without that.

started reading Twilight: Eclipse yesterday

Careful where you say that. I've seen alot of Twilight-Haters around on places like deviantart and all that and let me tell you, they can get trigged off very easily by someone just saying the book is okay.

Girls of Riyadh by Rajaa Alsanea.
It was better than I thought it would be.
