Hey guys, Ive been updating my lists for some upcoming comic cons and I became curious. What's the oldest issue of Batman or detective any of you have? I don't mean from a tpb, I mean an actual single comic book issue. In addition to this, is there any one particular issue you would like to have? (Batman 1 and 'Tec 27 dont count.lol)

Detective Comics #376, from 1969.

i just got the 1st issue of joker.

idk if it's my oldest one, but i love it. haha.

Batman #339 from 1981. I never really dug deep for back issues all my back issues are comics my cousin handed down to me (from the early to mid 80's) and a lot of comics I bought myself as a kid (from around 1988 and on).

That's hard to say because my father owns a big Batman and Superman (DC in general) collection, he started reading at the end of the 50s and started collecting in the 60s. But since I don't live at home anymore (actually quite a long time) I can't say that I own them (yet).

The first issue I bought and own was So comics.org says July 1981, but it was probably released earlier.

So that's the oldest I have in my personal collection, so basically my father passed the torch to me. Time to inherit the old man's stuff :o:cwink:

Two-parter from 1984, classic Ivy from Doug Moench, Gene Colan (Batman 367) and Don Newton (Detective 534)

I just started to collect comics again. I did when I was younger but I never read any of them, just looked at the art.

The oldest issue I have so far is Dectective Comics #660 from May '93.

Not very impressive, but I just started. Which I guess also answers which issue I want the most, any of them!

I started collecting Batman in 1987 but I have one from the 70's with Neal Adams' art, it's pretty worn but still readable.

My oldest book is Batman 143. It was the last .10 issue. I bought it several years ago from a lady named Lois.

My second oldest book is Detective Comics 300.

Aside from the obvious Detective 27 and Batman 1, I'd really love to own Detective 66, the first Two-Face story.

From '79. Bought this for 2 bucks at this outdoor antique place not too long ago. Turns out its worth quite a bit more.

Haven't had any comics for about 5 years now, but when I did the oldest I had was a Detective Comics (I think) issue from 1957, the cover story was "King Batman the First" where Batman becomes the king of another planet.

Because it has Two-Face as the villian it probably went only about 15-20 dollars due to TDK but the issue itself doesn't tie into a major event.

I have one older, but off the top of my head, Detective Comics #327 (1964) is the oldest one I own otherwise. The first of the "New Look" era.

Gonna' bump this thread with two new issues I bought this weekend. (It's bad because this "getting into comics" business is making me spend ALL my money every week!)

I own a coverless Batman #6. It's coverless but it's mine.

Next oldest I own is #86.

I've got a real beat up copy of BATMAN #100 and World's Finest #36, which, aside from the outer spine(the printing seems to have flaked off), but the binding is tight and the pages are just off-white, with slight slight yellowing.

It's all messed up, but I think it's all there still.

I have that. Love that story. One of the Penguin's best. And Norm Breyfogle on the art, too.

This is the arc where Harold is introduced.

Not so old, but still cool to have a comic with Batman as a pirate.
