Paul Gulacy, the best Batman comic artist ever!

I've watched him do free sketches for fans, while I would sit next to him and tell him he should be charging for them

Cool
Sounds like he's got class. Good thing you were here to refute the claims made elsewhere in this thread.

Yes, you have to see his work on paper to fully get what Paul is trying to say through his art. You have to see it on the nice glossy paper to fully appreciate it. Trust me.

What the **** are you on, dude?

^^Yes, thats all taken care of and Hugo Strange and I are friends now.

The main thing I was trying to get across was, you have to see it on paper with quote boxes and the usual "BOOM". You have to see it in full context, you have to see how him and the writer work together to bring you, in my opinion, some of the greatest comic books ever. What I posted towards the begginning, his comic pages, not covers, was not his best work. If I had a scanner, I would love to show those who have not seen his work, what I think is the best in my opinion.

That is your opinion if you don't like his work and you are entitled to your own opinion.

His best BATMAN work can be seen in Batman: Outlaws, Year One: Batman Ra's Al Ghul, Batman: Terror, and Prey. He doesn't just draw Batman. He draws anywhere from James Bond to the Terminator. Check out his other works.

^^Tell me that isn't awesome. Look how cool that is!!

It's certainly not bad art, its just not very exciting to look at

Im not of fan of the Scarecrow. But I am a fan of that boo-tay on Catwoman

Not exciting to look at? What a joke! HA HA HA HA! Tell me that that Batman or Catwoman ain't exciting to look at!

Well, Catwoman certainly is but the cover as a whole is just kind of...lackluster.

LACKLUSTER!!! Let's see you post a better comic cover! And.... that Batman looks hella cool! Look at his cape and the look on his face! The lightning in the background is also a neat touch.

For some reason Tim Sale never caught my fancy. Comparing his Batman and Gulacy's Batman. No contest- Gulacy wins hands down. Gulacy's is flashier and more realistic looking. Tim Sale is way over-rated. Gulacy is way underrated. Too bad.

^^^This cover is FAR better than The Long Halloween cover!

This cover's pretty awesome as well. And, it's better than The Long Halloween cover! By far!

I don't care for Sale either, but there is nothing interesting at all about the covers you posted.

Oh.......... here it goes again. Pick up Year One: Batman Ra's Al Ghul to see Gulacy in his prime. You have to see his work on page, not in cover form, to fully appreciate it. You have to see how he sets up his panels and what not. He is trully remarkable.

And Punch, who do you like as a Batman artist?

I liked Gulacy's work on Prey, it was a lot better than the stuff you posted.

As far as my own tastes, I like Miller and Mazzuchelli.

True that. Frank is my favorite Batman artist ever.

I hate Frank Miller's art nearly as much as his writing, but Gulacy isn't much better.

This already confused thread shall not be tainted by anti-Miller sentiments. :o

Paul Gulacy is a very good artist. Not the best, but very good. His art looks Brian Bolland influenced. Yes, Tim Sales is totally overrated.

Many of you seem to be geting a sadistic pleasure at disrespecting this persons favourite artist. Shame on you.
P.S. Jim Lee is overrated.

Sadistic pleasure? Did you even READ the thread?

Yes:
"He sucks."
"I can't stand him."
"He cannot draw a face to save his life."
Everyone is entitled to there opinion, that's just a bit harsh.

I don't see how you could possibly look at the faces in that picture and claim this man to be some sort of comic god....they're terrible, look at Huntress. Ick.

It's the internet.
What'd you expect?

Why is it harsh?

You could explain why you dislike his art. Give a reason. Saying "he sucks" is immature, childish and mean-spirited.
