I can rank them a lot better than I can pick a favorite, if that makes sense. There's such a simplicity to Raiders that I love. The shtick works without being corny or over the top. Crusade has such great depth, anchored by Connery's performance and Williams' positively gorgeous score. I suppose I'd say Crusade is my favorite, then, even if I'd say Raiders is still the slightly better film.

I know what you mean. For me Temple Of Doom is my favorite but I think Raiders is the best in many ways.

The one with a giant rock and a not so fat Alfred Molina, but you knew he would gain weight later on in life. I choose that one.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

Forgot to give my ratings. Both Raiders and TOD are an easy 10/10 for me while the other two are both an 8/10.

Why give Kingdom of the Crystal Skull a rating even never mind an 8?

While I voted for Temple Of Doom, technically my favorite would be a tie between Temple Of Doom and Raiders Of The Lost Ark. I just voted TOD to show the film the love that it deserves yet rarely receives.

While technically Raiders is the better of the two films, Temple Of Doom is a sentimental favorite of mine due to the fact that it was the first Indiana Jones movie I had ever seen in the theater. I had only ever seen the first one on video. I still have yet to see it on the big screen. And some small independent theaters have midnight showings of older films like Raiders, so it's possible for me to do so (assuming I have the money/time to see it when they do).

I hear you there. Usually I never distinquish between best and favorite, but I kind of do with Raiders and TOD.

Relating to the films, what's everyone's favorite action scene in the series? The mine cart chase in TOD will always be mine. Such a thrilling, intense sequence that's rivalled by few other movie scenes for me.

Agreed. That's one of the things that makes TOD a favorite of mine. I also love the scene on the bridge in the same movie. And the fist fight between Indy and that big guy on the rock grinding machine (again, same movie).

I also really liked the fist fight between Indy and the big Nazi in Raiders (incidentally played by the same guy as the big Indian guy he fights in TOD).

My favorite action scene in Last Crusade is the fight on the tank.

I don't have a favorite scene in Crystal Skull. That movie just sucked. If it were a better movie I'd say the sword fight, but it was soo poorly done. Maybe if Mutt weren't played by Shia La-Goof it would be better, but it still had crappy effects so. . .

Yeah,Raiders is the only one I didn't get to see in theaters either.

I remember seeing TOD in the theater when I was a kid.It was back in 84 and there were other movies we had to get to first.I had to see Search for Spock first,to see how that was resolved and everyone wanted to see Ghostbusters.

Well,by the time I got a chance to see TOD,the large local theater wasn't showing it.So we ended up finding a little 2 screen hole-in-the-wall place that was literally to be condemned in a week.:funny: They were still showing Temple and I think Trading Places or something.

I still remember it as one of my favorite movie experiences.:woot: The theater was only the size of a large living room and the seats were all torn up with stuffing coming out of them. There were probably only 3 other people there, beside us.But it was fun.And needless to say the movie blew my young mind.:exp:

With Raiders I also love the truck chase as well as the bar shoot-out. Those are movie moments you're just anticipating when they're coming.

The truck chase in Raiders is the standard for me, although I certainly love the Mine Cart chase in TOD and the tank chase in Crusade as well.

The tank scene in TLC is great as well, and I actually quite like the jungle chase in KOTCS, also.

Best villain is another good discussion to have, who do you think the best villain of the saga is? For me it's by far Mola Ram, so scary and evil to the core.
