When did politically correct become a term of insult?

the problem comes when the mind thinks one way and isn't able to express it properly so the mouth says something else...

1) Africa isn't a country. It's a continent.

2) I've never had a hard time distiguishing between someone from India or of Indian descent and someone from Africa or of African descent.
dude, he makes a point that black people are distributed all around the world. Not necessarily having family from africa.

Just a case that not all darkies originated from such a continent.

Another example is south america which has a large black population, considering the obvious traits that south american and africa used to be joined into one supercontinent and mid atlantic drift has hence separated them shows that there are animals and vegetation on one continent that has been shown to be natural to a completely different one.

there is no reason to think that also blacks could have equally originated in south america as well as in africa.

to claim one sole continent as a place of origin is somewhat foolish i believe.

kaine is just try to push this point across, which i think is actually a correct one to do.

I'm sorry. India simply seemed like a bad example.

In britain we say black, not African-British, that just sounds stupid. If people are allowed to describe me as white, why is it wrong to describe someone as black?

Dude, then you should see my girfriend. She's from Sudan, but with the mix heritage that she could easily be mistaken for Indian.

Man, talk about a narrow perspective .

MOST people who use the term "politically correct" are referring to how COMPLETELY OVERBOARD it goes.

As George Carlin said much more succinctly than I'm able to:

You want me to call that manhole cover a personhole cover. What's a man's man, a person's person? Do we sing for he's a jolly good person? What's on the TV, Late Night with David Letterperson?

There comes a point when it goes BEYOND reasonable. THAT, and not some attempt to be a racist or a bigot, is what MOST people are referring to when they use the PC term.

Grow some common sense for Christ's sake.

^The thing is, not everyone uses it to describe being overboard. I see it being used anytime anything regarding race, sex or lifestyle is brought into question. They immediately say, "quit being so P.C.!" Like they're trying to hide from it or something.

And that could also have more to do with our society being completely inundated with PC mumbo jumbo, to the point where even when it's legit, it seems like something else.

All I'm saying is that I'm sick of hearing this BS about how everyone who uses the term must be a racist or a bigot. MOST PEOPLE are decent. Yet, MOST PEOPLE use this term "Politically Correct" in distaste.

This thread is a load.
No, I don't know what part of the rural South you live in, or in which hyper-sensitive fantasy-land you reside, but "most" people do not bemoan the fact that in today's social climate they can't call people "N*****s", "Chinks", "Wops or "Spics".

Most people use "P.C." as a term of derision in reference to disabled people being called "differently abled" or short people being called "height challenged", etc.
Think what you want, that's the truth.

BTW, we need to organize a class action suit against the Hype for this discrimination. Apparently there are minorities within minorities, because why does ****** asterisk out, but not "chink, wop, or spic"?....OR "cracker"???

Towel-head, slope, ******, guinea.

I guess Dew was right. Any "old" acronym is usually false.

(n) a racial slur for an Italian or person of Italian heritage. It is often said that this term comes from "With Out Papers" or "Working On Pavement," but it actually comes from the Italian word "guappo", meaning a swaggerer, pimp, or ruffian

heh, I can see why "towel head" is possible, 'cause people have to be able to say "towel" and "head", just like the whole world must be allowed to talk about "dick", but, what, are they trying to preserve our right to discuss "Spic and Span"?

this is bad, you know when you learn a new word the first thing you want to do is to try and use it in a sentence...

but i can't say that to anyone around here, even though i want to...

education is a mixed blessing...
