Where are all the Marvel games??

I just found out the 2005 Punisher game was released on PC some time ago. It had bonus skins from what I've read.

General : Marvel & Kabam Confirm Second Action RPG for 2015

Posted Dec 02, 2014

Kabam and Marvel have announced that the two companies are working in cooperation to create a second mobile RPG based on the Marvel superhero IP. The first game, Marvel: Contest of Champions, is set to be released later this month with the as-yet-unnamed game targeting a Fall 2015 release across multiple platforms.
This second collaboration will be a mobile role-playing game developed by Kabam’s San Francisco studio. As with Marvel Contest of Champions, it will bring some of Marvel’s most beloved characters to life with an anticipated release on mobile devices in the fall of 2015. The second Marvel game will be created by the same team responsible for Kabam’s hit games Castle Age and Underworld Empire.

Marvel Contest of Champions Is Out Today. December 11, 2014 . 8:24am

This is a fighting game where a variety of Marvel heroes and villains fight each other in a tournament hosted by the Collector.

Marvel Contest of Champions is out today for iOS and Android devices. This is a fighting game where a variety of Marvel heroes and villains fight each other in a tournament hosted by the Collector (who is now a “thing,” thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy).

Controls for Contest of Champions are rather simple, but they work well. As in most fighting games, you have a light attack (tap right side of screen), medium attack (swipe right side of screen) and heavy attack (hold right ride of screen). You can also block (hold left side of screen) and dash (swipe left to right).

Naturally, it isn’t nearly as versatile as a fighting game on consoles would be, but judging by my experience so far, it is kind of fun if you aren’t in the mood for a serious game and want to kill some time in bed or in the bathroom. Plus, it’s free.

At present, Contest of Champions has 25 characters to unlock, and developer Kabam says more will be added over time.

Spider-Woman’s New Costume Is Being Debuted In A Game Before The Comics. December 23, 2014 . 2:02pm

Spider-Man Unlimited on smartphones saw a major update last week, and this included Spider-Woman in her new costume, which comic book readers won’t see until May.

Spider-Man Unlimited on smartphones saw a major update last week, which added a bunch of new content to the game, including two versions of Spider-Woman, both from the regular and Ultimate universes. What’s interesting is, the new costume Spider-Woman is wearing won’t make its comic book debut until May 2015. Marvel decided to debut it in the game first.

“We started planning this last May or so,” says Nick Lowe, the editor of the Spider-Woman comic at Marvel. “[Series writer] Dennis [Hopeless] and I were hatching what the book would be and one of the first things I wanted to do was change her costume [both] because I don’t love that costume and she hasn’t really had an alternative to it! At least not for any long stretch of time.”

That said, Marvel didn’t want Spider-Woman wearing a new costume during the duration of the ongoing Spider-Verse storyline, which sees Spider-Men and Spider-Women from different universes banding together to fight off vampires that feed on their kind. The Spider-Man Unlimited game is based on the events in Spider-Verse, though, so Marvel decided to work with Gameloft to debut the costume within the game first.

In fact, Marvel seem rather invested in Spider-Man Unlimited in general. There are plans for the game to continue into 2015, where more fan-focused material will make its debut.

this come after news of this being said by designer for Marvel heroes 2015's game

in this massively twitch video live stream just this past friday : http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/1...ins-dishes-on-marvel-heroes-x-23-a/#continued

And avengers alliance stated this them selves as well .

she's getting a new costume? FINALLY. Its about damn time. Looks Wonder Womanish though

It's closer to what bat girls rocking these days as her own coastume

Love her new look. It could easily be her new permanent look

But yeah, I also am curious about the lack of Marvel games. I assume Disney Interactive may be handling them.

Seriously Marvel, enough with all the mobile crap games , free-to-play s**t and stupid disney related nonsense

give us a damn AAA title, something even remotely adult oriented and with high production values!!

Hell, I'd take a sequel to the Cap game from a few years back, as long as it was set somewhere besides one large castle

I miss the XML/MUA games. Those games are in my heart. At least now there's Marvel Heroes which has improved greatly over time and now is a genuinely good game.

IA. Im loving MH'15. If it were to get a revamped MuA style makeover for the consoles, that would be a game, Id be all over. Ideally a new game, inspired by the old XML/MuA, while taking elements from MH would be perfect. As it stands, MH'15 is the closest thing we have to a AAA Marvel game

Why'd they stop making XML games. :csad: Imagine how good they'd look now.

Why'd they stop making XML games. :csad: Imagine how good they'd look now.
Cause activision made the games and thus sice marvel was screwed over by them with the dead pool ame they pulled the plu also Ultimate alliance wasn't well received if it come back it won't use the name legends to avoid any license issues same with the word ultimate alliance

this is what happens when you are linked to partner that publishes games like movies certain names can't be used again so you have to start over

I know, I was just crying to myself. :(

I know, I was just crying to myself. :(
This is also why they need to make their own games publisher house too. ad hire the people they kow that have worked for them that are working in the games industry. as writers or artist that still work for them from time to time. it's a good starting point and will benefit both sides that dude Joe mad the made Dark Siders still come back to marvel often is linked to half of the former makers of that game in a new studio there's Greg Rucka.

they had the same problem with movies it made them make a movie studio house of their own. this should made do the same .

I'm not sure I followed all of that. You want Marvel to make their own game studio? I'd love it if it was possible with Disney's backing but it's probably too risky. And unlikely now that Disney have passed games to other studios for what seems like at least the medium term. And any Disney involvement would probably limit how adult they can go.

What were you saying about Joe Mad(ureira). Would love for him to be involved, one of my all time favourite comic book artists.

not true Disney bought part of the Naruto franchise later in it's life span and they let it run it's course as it was pretty much had to only the people that made that series know where that was going. and that anime had alot of graphic violence.

Disney also let marvel run thing's how they like over all movie & comic's as long as they are still making profit and there's no issues of multiple failure due to bad chose's that keep's repeatedly happening from marvel like what happened with Lucas arts. which re-structuring would happen .

As long as that doesn't happen Disney will allow you to run thing's as you want or see fit. Marvel heroes 2015 for Expample as I put up the head of gaz stated o video they are told by marvel & marvel only what they can use & can't use in the game permission wise . the same deal with contest of champs Disney isn't involved with them ether I put up those video's here for those to see from the head dev's mouths saying so to place's like Ign & marvel the watcher.

Marvel has different contracts with others some of which Disney isn't involved in & gaz isn't a part of the Disney deal/contract
they went strait to Marvel the big D wasn't mentioned. it seems Disney is only there for financial support and to help put things out there. There were few games that were put out by Disney but with this one it seems they aren't the ones the these particular dev's answer to.

These guys are the same as gazillion they answer to Marvel.

If they make a publisher house of games it won't be just one studio, but many different ones for each genre .

Now as I said Joe mad ( Joe Madureira)who has worked for marvel as their artist in their books is still working with one half of the Dark Siders creators formerly known as Vigil they are now known as Airship Syndicate here a article: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...lopers-form-new-studio-airship-syndicate.aspx

Now the other half 0f the former Vigil studio's Darksiders creators that was apart of crytek America for a bit, but was screwed over with no pay for weeks also formed their own studio they are known now as Gunfire Games: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...s-founder-leaves-crytek-forms-new-studio.aspx & http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/08/08/vigil-games-core-team-reforms-again-as-gunfire-games/

Team Greg Rucka of Ar-k:http://www.siliconera.com/tag/ar-k/ up with Joe Madureira for the creative side of marvel's games division to Rival Jim lee over at DC Games division.
The game is split into episodic content, with Ash coming on board from chapter two, titled The Girl That Wasn’t There. Episode’s 3 and 4 will also see writer Greg Rucka join up, who has written at DC Comics and Marvel on projects including Wonder Woman, Batwoman, Wolverine and Elektra.
Let TQ Jefferson(Senor VP)handle the business side & the money there.

start of with these people and start have other new developing studio's with devs ether marvel has known like finding the former high moon dev';s if they made a new studio of their own yet or Anyone that is a dev that is creating a new studio and has been known for certain mastering a certain genre.

Most dev's are contract workers til they make a studio of their own, find former Rockstar dev's that have made Grand theft Auto for a toy box styled Punisher game for young adults & older since Disney infinity is for kids/ family's .

Make a semi Arkham styled game from the people that made the captain America or Sleeping dog's for a new Dare devil game and have new version the captain America too.

RPG's there are ton's that have left both Bio ware & Obsidian and they have made their own studio's find or they haven't still find them & have them make a studio so marvel ca have both X-men, Avengers Champion's, Defenders, Fantastic four, Heroes for hire, Marvel knights & new warrior's Games

They don't all have to be the same studio this is what's cool about being a publisher house for games. You can have many different studio's that Specialize in just one or multiple genre of games all under your umbrella.

It's not that different then what they are doing for their movies with different director's for each of their movies, for certain characters or super hero team movies .

like I said they are better off with what they did with their movies start a publisher studio house of their own with Disney backing them but not stepping in I'd like to see people from marvel that have the same back ground(In that they have played games and have worked in the games industry for a bit) As Jim lee people that can run the creative side for Marvel's Games division that have worked there like Joe Madureira writer Greg Rucka too
The majority of your portfolio is writing comics or novels—what drove you to a video game project such as AR-K?

Greg Rucka, writer: I’ve been a fan of the form for years and years. Computer games—as opposed to videogames—were just becoming a thing when I got out of college, and I fell in love with them. I think it’s a tremendous entertainment form, and I genuinely believe it’s an emerging, and very dynamic, art form as well. Speaking as a writer, the chance to work in such an environment is irresistible.

Your one past video game credit was as a story designer for Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow. Have your experiences working on that game proven useful when working on this one?

I’ve actually done more work than that, but much of it has been uncredited. Each game is different in my experience, and each studio approaches their work in their own way. There are certain rules that I think have proven true across the board, so in that sense, yes, the experience on Syphon Filter certainly influences how I work on AR-K. But the work is very different in each case. I’m far more involved in AR-K that I ever have been on any of the other games I’ve worked on.
the latter of which is working on a game like this http://www.siliconera.com/2014/10/18/comic-book-writer-greg-rucka-talks-writing-videogame/

has a history in the games industry prior to even that let TQ Jefferson just Handel the money.

Well I put up all the stuff I can.

I grew up in a time when Marvel games were fantastic.

The 1990's had fantastic 16bit hits like X-Men Genesis, Spiderman/Venom: Maximum Carnage, X-Men Arcade. On PSX there were great hits like X-Men Children of the Atom, Marvel Superheroes, Spiderman PSX, etc.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance series was okay, but it pales in comparison to the quality games that used to be licensed.

Spiderman Shattered Dimensions and Deadpool were a step in the right direction, but they weren't by any stretch of the imagination Triple A titles like what the Arkham series is. Sure they still made the amazing Capcom vs Marvel games but these are essentially a 20 year old game engine. In terms of innovation DC's Injustice is far ahead.

I think part of the reason is that Marvel has mainly made their games in line with the film releases and whilst this can result in gems like Spiderman 2 and Wolverine Origins, it usually results in rushed third party titles that don't stack up.

Marvel has such an amazing library of past games and such a dynamic and interesting universe I just think it's a huge shame that we aren't seeing great games set in that universe anymore.

Hell I'd settle for a Marvel 16 Bit/Arcade era best of box set.

As for console titles it's cause Activsion screwed them over with the dead pool game, SXega was making poor titles related to the movies etc.

I've stated many times if we want to see console titles again marvel will have to do what they did with they're movies. they should make a gaming publisher house. Even people in the gaming news media are starting to think this.

So Marvel won't be screwed over by a nutty ceo that would replace former ceo that made deal with them of that other gaming publisher house ave their characters to make a game in. This way at least Marvel will be in control. they have some people that work for them that work in the games industry the come back to work on their comic's often. it's no different from Michel J strajizky of bably 5 fame & Jericho for tv that wrote spiderman the comic's or Josh wedon of buffy fame who's doing the Avengers movies these days who wrote for the comic's of x-men & few others .

So they can start with those people in the games industry move on from there

Because Activision turned into a studio that only liked CoD, then Sega just made ****** games. The only good Marvel games lately were probably the two Ultimate Alliance games and Spidey Shattered Dimensions looked pretty nice.

Well, one thing that you should probably understand is that Marvel never made good games, nor have they made bad games. Marvel themselves never made any games. All of those games you mentioned (excluding the PS1 Spider-Man game) were made by Capcom or Sega, both of which were at the top of their game back then in creating fighting games or side scrolling beat'em ups.

The answer to the question is that the licenses are either held by Activision (who doesn't care to just pump out any yearly game with little effort) or owned by Disney (who has no real interest in creating AAA games). DC properties have the advantage of being owned by WB, and WB Interactive is becoming major a player in the AAA game industry. Disney could potentially do something like this, but their business model for gaming has moved away from "core" gaming and shifted to mobile or gimmick based titles like Disney Infinity.

I like Captain America: Super Soldier and the first Amazing Spider-Man games, those are decent.
If you care to try LEGO, play LEGO Marvel Superheroes.

disney infinity wasn't good?
no one said that . some people wish there was more to the marvel side added though & compared to sky Landers they wish there was alot more with the marvel side, but the games fine & fun.

But it's not for every marvel fan the play games especially those the want more mature content or find it too Expensive .

The people that made captain America for sega don't exist as a studio anymore not under that name they had anyway
