The book tells the story of Max, who one evening plays around his home, "making mischief" in a wolf costume (chasing the dog with a fork, etc.) As punishment, his mother sends him to bed without supper. In his room, a mysterious, wild forest grows out of his imagination, and Max takes a journey to the land of the Wild Things. They are fearsome-looking monsters, but Max conquers them with a scary look and he is made the King of the Wild Things. However, he soon finds himself lonely and homesick, and he returns home to his bedroom. He finds his supper waiting for him ... "And it was still hot."

I have to admit Im really curious as to how Spike is going to handle this as a movie, the book is probably one I remember and love most from my childhood.

Looks good. This is one I was worried about when it was first announced, and then I forgot all about it.

My all time favorite childrens book has come to life. This will be one that my whole family wil be seeing.

I didn't enjoy the book that much.:o

and how long a movie can they make out of this? It's a very short story.

Oh goodie I was wondering when someone was gonna make a thread on this :)

Seems like this has been in production forever

diggin' the pics. they have a very 80's "labyrinth-esque" vibe to 'em. minus david bowie.

One of my favorite books from my childhood. I'll definitely be checking this out when its released. :yay:

This does look great. Spike Jonze is a fairly good director who definantly has the talent to make this brilliant. Long way away though.

Deprived childhood :oldrazz:!

But I was wondering the same thing...hopefully Jonze can be decently creative and not resort to some silly "adults are trying to get into the monsters world, there's an evil corporation involved" stuff that has been done to death in children's movies.

Sadly, the behind the scenes stuff on this film has been a nightmare. Especially with Max, the kid was a last minute decision and isn't what everyone was hoping for. Spike Jonze is one of my favorites, so here's hoping he can pull it together.

I remember this book. Ofcourse, it was read to me in the Dutch translation. (The title was different aswell; Max and his Maxi-monsters) but I remember the images very well.

I don't really give a rat's ass about this film though...:p

The behind the scenes chaos is what, to me, makes it seem like this has taken forever to be released. Rememeber when Forrest Whitaker was attached?

I loved the book as a kid..the pics look good

So was Cat in The Hat
Bad example.:o:csad:
Deprived childhood :oldrazz:!
I couldn't relate to Max. I was a good boy.:goodytwoshoes::o

yeah, I just hope they don't change the story too drastically to fit the time.
