Actually,I don't think Langstrom needs all that much build up.I don't think he neccessarily needs to have a personal relationship with Batman prior to becoming a monster. It works better with Connors in Spider-Man due to the father figure aspect he has towards Peter Parker. The thing that puts Man Bat on the list for me is that it would be a break from the mob/psycho/take over Gotham City formula.Batman has never fought anything quite like Man Bat in a live action movie before.Done right, it could be a very intrieging man vs beast thriller.Agreed. They'd have to build up to. Much how they were building up to Curt Connors being "The Lizard" in Raimi's Spider-Man 4 or 5.
