It's crazy how humans have such a drive to rank everything, and make everything a competition, and frame things as absolutes.

I think Wil just outed himself as an inhuman. Or, un-human as a certain unnamed Hype member would put it.

It's so telling, that "Neither, they're both great in different ways." isn't an option on the poll.

What if you like the NIN version for what it is, and the Cash version for what it is?
Well, that doesn't interest threadmaker. Life is Black+White damn it! :cmad:
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!
:whatever:

That's loser talk.

Nope, I'm the guy who routinely has to say that Led Zeppelin is the best band that ever was or ever will be.
Talking about humanity here, not Kainedamo.

Since I consider myself very anti mainstream,I will say that Nin's Hurt is better.
:woot:

Johnny Cash. His voice is so resonating and emotion filled it's hard to top.

I like Johnny Cash better than NIN, but both did a good job of that song. I'll go with Cash, and I'll probably just end up listening to "When the man comes around" anyways.

I love them both, but I have to go with NIN just for having done it first.

Cash's version. I like the NIN version, but Cash's really hits home.

The one thing I cant stand about Cash's is the self-censoring. It's "crown of s**t" Johnny, "s**t." Not thorns.

While I prefer the NIN version, I like the Johnny Cash version alot. When the Man Comes Around is one of my all time favorite songs though.

I prefer Trent Reznor to sing it . It still is his song and he conveys the right emotion to make the song realy work .

Johnny Cash did a good cover and I am a Cash fan but I didnt feel it as much from him .
Also after seeing it played live at a nin concert I regard it as a nin song .

Hey, if you feel they're both great in different ways just say so.

I like Johnny Cash, but he was cooler than his music if someone else had put that cover out sounding like it does more than half of you would say it sucks , I'm not saying it sucks I like it and the video is even better but in comparison with NIN it has poorer production, poorer vocals (sorry Johnny) and is much less inventive,( of course) than the original that is a classic and will stand the test of time longer than the cover because Johnny cash is a cultural icon of his time, but his song is inferior

On record, Cash, even though NIN are like my favourite band ever.

but this is my favouriote version

NIN live at Reading Festival 2007

and i was there :yay:

Seeing him perform it live makes a big difference. I remember people all around me crying.

Cash's version had so much meaning and emotion in it.
