Who can beat Magneto?

He recently got repowered by The Collective, and I miss the powerless Jewish old man.

Hey, he's not an old man--at least, not physically! (Yes, I lust after him. Take a look at Jim Lee's Magneto & you'll know why :woot: .)

Thor, Prof. Xavier, Dr. Strange, Apocalypse, Onslaught, Doom, Phoenix, Surfer, Thanos and every other cosmic being. On the DC side: Supes, Green Lantern(Hal Jordan), Darkseid. I know there are more but I am not as familiar with DC as Marvel.
Nice list. Thanks everybody. Question-Do you guys think that the Black Panther has the rescourses to do so too?

If I remember correctly, Magneto was the one who "beat" the Black Panther. So... no.

Both Marvel or DC characters included. I'm not a big X-Men follower but from what I gather, he's one of comic books' most difficult oponents to beat. I'm not talking about beating as in ruining plans and schemes only, I mean beating as in "You got knocked the **** out!".

Feel free to mention teams (including rosters) but I really rather hear individuals.

Thanks in advance!
Alot of people can and have beaten him. And I mean alot. Especially if you include Dc characters.

So I see. Especially in the 60's and 70's but I'm interested more of the recent years. He seems to be written more powerfully since the 90's or so. Any particular stories any of you recommend?

Forget Jim Lee's Magneto, have you seen Cho's Magneto?

I've always wondered whether magneto's control was over magnetism and all metals or was it simply the magnetic ones?
all metals

You mean issues he's been beaten, or ones he kicks ass in? If ones he kicks ass in then check out the Fatal Attraction issues, I think I have them all, (looking for the issue I wanted to bring up :) ).

K, the ones I could find are Uncanny X-Men 304, Wolverine 75, X-Force 25, Excalibur 71, X-Factor 92. I can't remember if theirs another, I thought there was, but don't feel like looking thru all my comics for it.

Anyway in the Uncanny X-Men Magneto is kinda super charged and during Illyana's funeral he owns the X-Men more or less. There are members from the main X-Men, X-Factor, and X-Force teams, and he blocks Jeans psychic powers by "using his electro-magnetic powers to jam my (jean's) psionic powers", holds every last one (about 25+ x team members) on the ground and unable to move by magnetically gripping the Iron fibers in their blood, all while forcing Wolverine's claws to retract and ripping apart Xavier's chair and 'pulping' Senyaka with his own coil. This whole time he shows no sign of difficulty, and while doing all of this he's holding Avalon in orbit which is said -
"The Havoc Caused by the Leviathan that is Avalon's sudden presence -- It's violation of Earth's electro-Magnetic field -- will mar the landscape.. Will ravage the citizenry of the planet..for weeks to come".

The only reason they even get up is because Bishop absorbs the energy Magneto is giving out, Rogue tries to kiss him and he barely feels it which shocks her.

In the X-Force one he rips away Cables techno-organic side and about kills him, and Cable has stood up to the Hulk during the Onslaught saga. That entire series was a badass series of moments for Magneto once he came back (his acolytes were doing the damage until then). That scene where's he's holding down all those X-Men, including several very high super strength individuals, while holding up avalon, and attacking just put him in another level to me.

Hey, thanks alot CB! I'm interested in his ass kicking as well as his ass kicked

He can control the entire electromagnetic spectrum and all metals, including adamantium. So I've often wondered why Ultron hasn't tried to kill him--y'know, as a precautionary measure.
That's stupid

he can't control any metals, he can just control the magnetic fields they give off, which is different. Controlling metal would be like controlling fire or water...He isn't Metalneto:o

Anyone. Just depends on who is the writer.

Np, personally Magneto's always been one of my favorite villains (somewhere in the top 3). He does get his ass beat sometimes, but I think pound for pound he has some of the better bad ass moments for an Earth based villain. One thing I've always wanted to see him do was just cut loose and uproot a major city by grabbing the metal in the buildings, the sewer system under it and whatever else, and just dropping it on someone like the Hulk :). If he can hold an astroid sized avalon in orbit with no real effort I'm sure he can probably do that.

That can't be Cho's work, it doesn't look like Brandy. :D

Most anybody with a brain or some serious raw power really. Superman, Mr. Fantastic, Doom, Plas as was stated, Zemo, Thor, The Silver Surfer, Thanos, Vulcan, Hell, Quicksilver. The list goes on really.

How's he gonna do that? It's freakin' Plastic Man.

does he have plastic blood? and magneto has controled things that are not metal
