LOL, the only thing stupider than the suspension ( which shouldn't have happened in the first place) are the people throwing their money away to "teach sirius a lesson" I wonder where Opie and Anthony will be next time any of their fans need some money.

I understand your viewpoint, Sparkle but I think I might be able to bring you around on this.

1. In the radio business, suspension = fired. Opie and Anthony are fired from XM. Opie's brother has confirmed it. O and A are prohibited legally from talking about it.

They say "suspended" because it will slow the number of cancelled subs. The stock holders would get very nervous.


2. A lot of people with XM only have it because of Opie and Anthony. To them, cancelling subs is no biggie. "No Opie and Anthony, No more XM"

3. There have been several instances when they have helped out fans financially. A few off of the top of my head:

a) A listener with an Opie and Anthony bumper sticker had his windshield smashed in. Anthony footed the bill.

b) Paypal donation site set up for homeless listener

c) Money for fan with serious financial problems

And it isn't like they brag about these things. Word spreads over the internet.

On air, they're jerks. But I cannot stress how good they treat their fanbase.
Hell, they have parties at restaurants where they buy beer for everyone.

Their fans feel obligated to show them support.

This thread wold probably have been better off as a topic concerning censorship in the media. I know that most of you have no reason to cancel your subs.

I heard the "offending"segment, and it seems no better or worse than any of the other stuff I've heard from them.
this is stupid, if you don't like what you're listening to, or watching, turn it the **** off and let the grown ups deal with things like freedom of speech.
again, Imus shouldn't have gotten fired, and neither should people "put pressure" on broadcast outlets to censor content ( when it's not within the guidelines) it's moronic that networks do this, and radio doing it is beyond comprehension.

I hate this world.

That's probably one of the most true things I've ever heard come from anyone on this board. All these "high and mighty million-post-count-holders" are annoying. Although I do agree with Sparkle in the sense that you're in the wrong place if you're trying to boycott XM.

Either way, it's pretty effed up that O&A were suspended... For the same reason they pushed for Imus to not be suspended for. Freedom of Speech is disappearing, all because, "someone took offense."

Freakin' ****s. The XM guys probably sat back, listened to that very broadcast, and laughed at it.

Oh yeah, but people who listen to the radio also gotta realize: Opie and Anthony are characters. That's the way it is with almost every talk radio show, especially with shock jocks.

Greg Hughes and Anthony Cumia aren't "the jerks" that they act like on the air, and they're very in touch with and supportive of their characters' fanbase.
