I’m team meow until there’s no going back.

- respectably popular Spider-Man character and with more merchandizing opportunities
- an actress like Sadie Sink would need something significant at this stage in her career and she said she’s drawn to tough, dark and angsty roles and stunt work and physicality
- a more versatile character than many other female characters like MJ or a traditional Gwen Stacy that can directly contribute both to the plot and to action sequences like fighting a female villain
- street level character
- hero villain like Silver Surfer in the Fantastic Four movie but with more screen time like Sue Storm
- potential future triangle with Peter and MJ; old rumors suggested the new female lead is a new love interest
- never fully actualized in any Spider-Man movies (Felicity Jones was basically a Felicia cameo) despite many prior attempts
- if you’re ever going to introduce this character this is the best time story-wise. Only caveat is how overcrowded this movie may well be.

I’ll just stop there else I’m regurgitating all my past thread posts from the beginning.

those characters are kinda too "deep cut" of references to need to keep secret...
most non-comic reading viewers would have no idea who that is even if they announced it

so, what story lines were they involved with that would be a "Huge spoiler" for people to know she's in it, that they might be using as part of the plot

That’s fair; I just think everyone’s character (outside of returning MCU talent) is being kept under wraps at the moment so I don’t know if it’s her character in particular or just the whole movie itself that they’re keeping a lid on.

At least we know she’s been filming and pretty early on thanks to their co-message to Destin’s organization. The reason these action movies take so many months to film is because of the stunts and VFX while a drama can wrap in a month. Sink was the first new cast name that got out in the trades IIRC.

I could believe Sadie Sink is Carlie Copper .

She hasn't been adapted to live action yet , and her character was apart of the BND comic storyline.

It gives Marvel/ Sony a clean slate to work from, as opposed to doing yet another version of Gwen.

They'd have a new character ,without any prior baggage of previous portrayals.

I also think Sony is still intent on that Silver And Black spin off film , and are keeping Black Cat in their back pocket .

She could also be Lilly Hollister , especially if an MCU version of Harry Osborn is featured as has been rumored .

That's another character that hasn't been adapted .

Debra Whitman is also a possible if in terms of female characters in Peter's supporting cast who haven't made it to the big screen yet.

To be honest, I don't understand why Mary Jane needed to be "reinvented". Either do the character or don't. But this wishy washy "she's a 'reinvention' of the character, she's a homage" stuff annoys me.

best I can figure is that cause Liz was already the Love interest for that story...

they didn't think fans would be overly invested in their ship, if MJ was around (and didn't want a love triangle, to complicate things) knowing that he'd just end up with her eventually anyway

but, they also wanted to Zendaya in the cast from the beginning

If her gossip is true, i’s either a code name for the production to use or an alias/disguise within the movie for another name (John Harrison - Khan, Miranda Tate - Talia, Franz Oberhauser - Blofeld). I assume anyway. In the latter case it was to hide the identity of a fairly well known or popular character by substituting it with a rando name.

I can buy it. It wouldn't be the first time the MCU has used a minor character from the comics and reinvented them for a movie. Not to mention how much Spidey's supporting cast was changed in the Home trilogy.
