The Amazing Spider-Man Who Should Direct The Reboot?

I'm in the Vaughn camp for sure. I just hope his gun-fu schtick from Kick Ass doesn't follow him into a Spidey film. But he didn't use any of that in Layer Cake or Stardust so I really am not worried about that happening. Just thought I'd take the opportunity to slam gun-fu once more. God, I hate it! ;)

Why are you trying to block out the fact that Sony pushed Raimi? It's true. They pushed him.

All I know is that they pushed for Venom. But Sandman as Uncle Ben's killer? That's Raimi. Not the 1st time he did revisionist Spidey history(MJ instead of Gwen).

Vaughn all the way...this Guy is Hungry and he knows how to handle this stuff!
Come on Sony give him a call....

Wes Anderson would be interesting.. potentially awesome. Anybody know his stance on the superhero genre? Is he a fellow geek?
All of his films have been fairly low-budgeted independent films.

I can't even begin to imagine what a $200-million-dollar, Anderson-directed superhero movie would be like.

Anderson's never had a real hit. While I like going to the indie-well to find great talent(Nolan & Favreau both were like that), those two actually had each made a hit prior to doing a superhero movie(Favreau/Elf, Nolan/Insomnia). I think we need something like that to show if they filmmaker has the ability on there own to appeal to a broader audience with out simply relying on a proven property that was gonna be big with or without their involvment. Vaughn really hasn't had a hit either(even though I want him for the job) but I think that's going to change with Kick Ass in 3 months.

I was thinking that Luis Leterrier be cool even though he did The Incredible Hulk reboot.

David Fincher's pitch for the 1st Spider-Man movie would be perfect for the reboot.

I didn't even know he got that far. What'd he propose?

Spidey's origin through flashbacks, and the gwen stacy death story line. The studio hated the idea though, so he turned them down.

would mean a goblin retread. new villians please :yay:

If they did Fincher's idea it would probably be stretched into the 2nd film. Still the idea of Parker being Spidey at the beginning of the film, and just showing his origin would be perfect for the 1st film.

^That could work but honestly I'd rather they just do it TIH-style so that we waste even less screen time on the origin.

I think Vaughn and Snyder be suited for this but one thing i hope they do here is cast very tactfully for its gonna be hard to top the original series here. Gonna need good adult actors for the grown up roles if the teens or collage aged playing teens cast are gonna be low key and unknown.

please no HACK snyder (see what I did there :cwink: ) hated watchmen.
I'm fed up of slo-mo. is there a single slo-mo shot in BB or TDK?

Snyder's not bad but he definitely does use slow-mo too much. And I liked(not loved) Watchmen.

I know that my opinion will don't be popular (and I'm really not sure of my own choice about the director), but I really would like to have David Lynch like director, why ? Simply because of Twin Peaks, I have read that he was a fan of Ditko spider-man, some characters, like Laura Palmer father, look like in some way Norman Osborn draw by Ditko, there are lot of others elements about my choice, but I don't want to spoiler for peoples who don't have seen twin peaks, I think that the others who have seen the TV show know of what I would like to talk.

I really like, in twin peaks, how he describe the teenagers, sometimes very bad and sometimes like they are pure and innocent and how they deal with the danger of the adult world, perfect for describe the self doubt of Peter Parker but also for the others characters, for example the Gwen Stacy from "Sins Past" remind me alot of Laura Palmer.

I think that David Lynch could do a great Spider-movie, of course, for that he should do accepted some commercial choice and to respect the comicbook (not too crazy things like he love to do), and to be honest, I don't know if he can control a blockbuster movie, but his quality it's that he know how to make together very fun moments with very intense and dark moments, for me it's his big quality.

the most important thing is the director is good with characterization and getting performances from actors. I'm almost unconcerned whether the director in question has worked with special effects and action. how much special effects and action were in nolan's pictures prior to BB?

Wow I am surprised Darren Aronofsky would be one of the picks. He is one my favorite directors nowadays. The Fountain is a masterpiece, and he proved to be the best at what he does with drama and psycho triller, but I would not pick him for Spider-Man.

After the Fountain he is my only choice for a Silver Surfer film. (not a sequel to FF)

Peter Jackson would be my choice for X-Men.

As for a Spider-Man reboot I would definitely pick JJ Abrams as my top choice. He can handle action, character development, interaction, drama.. all the qualities needed for a Spider-Man film.

Gore Verbinsky is also one of my top choices for good comedy moments and dealing with amazing visuals.

And I would definitely like to see a Tim Burton's version of Spider-Man. Especially the Goblin story (Green Goblin, Hobgoblin and Jack O'Lantern) he was meant to do this and they would be real goblins as they should be. Even the Symbiote story with Venom he could take to new heights with his tone and visuals. He could handle also the Lizard and even Mysterio would be quite interesting to see in a Burton way.

Zack Snyder would be also cool to see.

So:
JJ Abrams - for a definitive, action and drama film with best characterization
Gore Verbinsky - for a more lightly action film with humor elements and massive scenes
Tim Burton - for a darker tone and unique aesthetics especially good for certain stories

okay, its your opinion but why do you think the fountain was a masterpiece, it was almost nonsensical.

whedon ticks a lot of boxes

understands comics? - check (read his xmen run its fantastic)
wise cracks and humour - check
worked in a high school setting - check (not important but it is a plus)
understands action - check
work with CG - check

the only minus is he hasn't done any thing 'dark and gritty' (I personally don't see that as minus but sony might)
