Who thought extended burps in trailers were comedy gold?

I've seen it in plenty of trailers in the past, but I can already count three recent trailers where this was used, such as TMNT and that Firehouse Dog one. That Unaccompanied Minors Xmas movie also featured an extended belch. Why is this a trend in movie trailers, mostly family films? I guess kids still find burps and farts funny. Hell, there are guys my age that still do, so I guess it's a moot point.

Farts ARE funny, though. Well, I suppose timing is everything. Like at the dinner table in, "The Nutty Professor," (Murphy version), or with Fat Bastard in the Austin Powers movies.

It really depends what context the toilet humour is used, but to be honest sometimes this toilet humour just seems the easy way out for people who want to add humour to a scene.

Most of the time these farts just don't have any context, but if there is a reason for this over the top toilet humour then sure, go for it.

A good example of this toilet humour is in Trainspottingg when he literally empties his bowels in the dirtiest toilet in Scotland. He does so because the constipation that comes from taking heroin has gone away.

But films like Date movie etc...well...they are just adding this humour because they think it's funny.
