Yeah, 24 hours with no votes is a bit much. It can keep going and going if random posters happen to pop up in the Misc Film thread and decide to vote.

Wouldn't quite say it's a matter of opinion, seeing as the filmmakers made DOTD2 without any consent or knowledge on the part of the makers of the original Day of the Dead, making it an unofficial sequel. The fact is that the movie, as a whole, has nothing in common with the first besides the name. The '2' was tacked on to trick fanboys into buying it. Lumping it in with the rest of the Dead series would be equivalent to lumping a Nightmare on Elm Street fan film in with the official series, or determining that "Titanic 2" is part of James Cameron's Titanic solely because it added a number to the title.
I would agree with you on this if it weren't for one detail: Romero's original was acknowledged as a work of fiction based on a real event in Return of the Living Dead, meaning that NOTLD is not a prequel to the rest of the 'Living Dead' movies, rather a movie within a movie. That being said, I see no reason as to why the NOTLD remakes can't be listed with the original, since they are remakes of the first film in the 'Dead' series.
I haven't voted because this contest features franchises that have no business being in a Horror competition (Blade) while leaving out some very notable Horror franchises.
Many
I dont want to hear any "those wouldnt win" arguments, because certainly neither will Pumpkinhead or freaking Wishmaster.
Here's some Horror franchises that are not included:
Psycho, Hannibal Lecter's saga, Ginger Snaps, The Ring, The Grudge, The Eye, One Missed Call, Urban Legends, Jaws, Aliens, Predator, Species and Mimic (some sci-fi, but all of which deserve to be included every bit as much as Resident Evil or Blade), From Dusk Til Dawn, Piranha, Anaconda, The Prophecy, Witchboard, Witchcraft, Tremors, The Stepfather, Warlock, Prom Night, Slumber Party Massacre, Basket Case, Demonic Toys, Gingerdead Man, Scanners, Maniac Cop, Night Of The Demons, The Brotherhood, Cube, Boogeyman, Wrong Turn
Now, my list:
GROUP A
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Resident Evil
Candyman
Silent Night, Deadly Night (Part 2, for the lulz)
GROUP B
The Dead Series(Day of, Dawn of, Land of, etc.)
The Exorcist
The Howling
Final Destination
GROUP C
Halloween
The Living Dead Series
Blade
Pumpkinhead
GROUP D
The Evil Dead Series
Hellraiser
Phantasm
Wishmaster
Hmmmm, ok. READ THE FINE PRINT.
As for Resident Evil and Blade being in and Psycho, Hannibal Lecter, Jaws, Alien, Predator, and Species not...
ZOMBIES AND VAMPIRES = HALLOWEEN HORROR
SHARKS, MENTALLY DISTURBED INDIVIDUALS, AND ALIENS DON'T NECESSARILY
As for the others, bummer dude.

Yeah but it's titled Halloween and they all take place on Halloween. So a mentally disturbed killer...like Michael Meyers...would not be considered a Halloween horror type killer?
Actually, the list I found and used actually included a lot of those series but I threw some of them out because they really dint' reek of Halloween franchise feel. True, some of the one's you listed may have been good editions(I can't believe I missed Urban Legend or Warlock) but hey man..it's still early and if there's enough franchises I can add them all as long as they meet the criteria I set:You're just too proud to admit that you just randomly picked...so like most people on the internet...you defend the silly stance regardless.
Twilight is EMO and gay and I'll try and avoid ever including it in anything I do. As for Underworld... I think I DO need to open up the sister-half of the Horror Franchise Tournament. If Blade fits into this category based solely on the presence of vampires, then so should Underworld and Twilight.
That's not what I did. I found a list of 40+ horror franchises, couldn't think of any more, threw out a couple that didn't meet my guidelines, and bing-bang-boom - here we are. I am kind kickin' myself though. I almost always use Wikipedia for setting up tournaments like this, except for this time of course, and I finally got down the tournament format I want and that is best and I totally flub up the entrants. I think I definitely need to add the other half.Again...you picked the classics, threw in some non-horror movies that you like, and then added some random franchises that popped in your head. No big deal...I just think that many franchises deserve to be on a "best ever horror franchise" more than many on your list, thats all. Maybe you find Blade and Resident Evil to be horrifying, scary movies...to each their own.
