Why all the bad feelings towards Schumacher?

Er...NO. People hated them then and they hate them now. No difference.

I disagree with this, Batman Forever wasn't hated by the general public when it came out, at least from my experience. Now, B&R was never successful to begin with, I 'll give you that.

This thread is funny.

Look...I like BF. It was a big part of my childhood. I was given a VHS copy of the movie back in '96...And it was the only thing my mind thought about. The good mostly outweighs the bad in that film.

Now, B&R...What can I say...Oh God... :csad:

I agree. I like Forever a lot actually. Yes, there are things wrong with it, but I don't care. It's just a fun Batman movie. There are good action scenes, the fighting was a little better choreographed, I think...and I still think one of the coolest shots in a Batman film was when Batman crashed through the sky light into the fountain and did a back flip twist in the air while being shot at.

"Your entrance was good....his was better..."

I always thought Batman and Robin was horrible, but it good to laugh at. Time hasn't been very good to Batman Forever, especially to the two-face part of it, I've gotten over the disappointment though, due to Nolan's films. Schumacher's a normally good filmmaker. At least an interesting one, he can be hit or miss. Some of his films I love and others not so much.

OK, maybe not hate for Forever, far from loathing, but I wouldn't say it was exceptional either.

I've been redundant when I say this, but the only thing I really liked about Forever was Seal's 'Kiss From a Rose' song from the soundtrack. It really is a beautiful song. I also liked the video for it, even if it's so simple.

You know, between 1995-1997 Batman Forever and Batman & Robin were nothing but pure fluff entertainment. I enjoyed them for that. So I really see where the original poster of this thread is coming from. Dennis O'Neil once said there is really no right or wrong version of Batman, everyone see's something different. Granted, I'm more partial to the darker roots of the character, but I can respect the lighter moments in the character's history. It only adds to the richness and complexity. However, thank god we have Nolan to give the general public a look at just how serious Batman really can be taken.

I do agree with the one guy about Riddler and Two-Face's gay relationship. They were portrayed like two lost queers that found each other. Two-Face was definitely bi-sexual while Riddler was just a complete homosexual. It's too obvious. They hug, they wear flamboyant outfits, they act giddy. The writing is on the wall with that one. Plus, what the hell was up with Edward Nygma's obession over Bruce Wayne. Picture and magazine collection of Bruce Wayne?

Joel Schumacher was basically made out to be the obvious fall guy/scapegoat for why Batman & Robin didn't do so well at the box office and with fans. All of the more goofy and campy stuff that was in Batman Forever was turned up to a number 11 in the next movie (and it became a really distracting case of overkill as a result).
