    Happy Halloween, Guest!

Why do we really want remakes?

Why do you think we need to remake certain films?

  • Technology is far greater today for certain films with special FX

  • Better script/writing today

  • To reach a broader audience that was missed the first go around

  • other (please expound)

All of those options work, it's mainly the first one. It also modernizes the movie.

It can be interesting to see some old FX-heavy movies be remade with modern technology, like King Kong. But all these remakes they're doing with comedies and horror movies like The Heartbreak Kid and Halloween are just a waste of time and money. I suppose one reason why there are so many remakes and sequels coming now is that Hollywood, for some reason, are releasing more movies every year. And when you have three, four or five releases (and that's only the wide releases) every week it's probably hard to come up with original concepts to all of them. Personally I'd like to see fewer movies released.

I wouldn't say Halloween's was a waste. After all, for better or worse, it did bring something new to the table. So that remake did have a reason to exist.

I think they should remake *****ty movies to make them better. Just think about it...."Ghost Dad" starring Denzel Washington.
Yeah, those kind of films can easily be improved upon.
