Why are pop stars from Asia getting more opportunities to break into Hollywood. WB wants Rain to play the lead role in the upcoming Enter the Dragon remake and let‘s not forget Jay Chou was cast for the Green Hornet movie. Why do they think singers can replace or stand toe to toe against the one and only Bruce Lee. If these singers come from a martial arts background I might give them a chance, but seriously there're POP SINGERS. I suppose it helps to sell tickets overseas due to the fact that they already have a built in fan base.

Since we're living in the 21st century would it be crazy to have an Asian American playing a lead role in a big Hollywood movie. Do the executives think that just because an Asian American isn’t a pop singer he or she can’t sell tickets overseas. If I were an Asian moviegoer from across the globe who loves watching Asians on the big screen doesn’t automatically mean I won’t buy a ticket or can’t identify with the actor because the individual isn’t in the music industry. There’s no excuse to keep importing Asian actors when there’re millions of Asians living in the United States. Rules are meant to broken and I hope to see some changes soon.

WHOA! Enter The Dragon getting REMADE!?!?!

I'm not really seeing this trend honestly.

And if pop stars from Asia are getting cast, they're being put in the February - April B-movies and thus go pretty much under the radar.

I'd expect to see an Asian pop star in a Tsui Hark film . I don't think ti would carry well over here.

Maybe it's guilt Hollywood has for copying Asians idea's and then making the main characters White.

I still cannot get over they remaking Enter The Dragon.

^ they are not it is something different i am sure of it

also pop singers know a thing of choreography James mctiege said it was easy for rai do his own stunts with his dancing background

well if your casting an asian role in a movie you might as well cast someone with a big following in asia.

Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh, Chow Yun Fat, Ken Watanabe, Steven Chow and other Asian Actors will continue to be cast in American movies for years to come. It's happened for years, dating back to Bruce Lee. It's not going to change anytime soon. Besides, Chan (although not lately), Fat, Yeoh, Watanabe and Chow have had success here in the states.

Hollywood will always cast Asians from Asia for action films. For comedies, they will use Asian Americans. That will never change.

They're cast to help boost profits overseas. Their name carries weight in their homeland. Simple as that.

It is something different? Well okay then I give it a chance then.

Just because they have a big following in Asia as a musician doesn't mean their fans willl come out in droves to support thier movies. So basically if they can sing or dance doesn't automaticlly make them good actors.

If Hollywood is willing to gamble on real Asian American actors who comes from a theatre background and are properly trained in his or her craft ( I'm sure there's someone in the United States), then maybe American audiences are more willing to embrace them. Unfortunately we have too settle for imported actors from across the planet.

What's wrong with casting Asian into Hollywood movies?

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with casting Asians in Hollywood movies, but why can’t execs take a chance on Asian Americans in lead roles. Their more open to casting pop singers from Asia as opposed to real Asain American actors in the U.S.

Name-value. Hollywood employs the same exact techniques within their own branch, I wouldn't suppose they'd change it for foreign actors.
