Why is spike lee seen as a racist ?

Spike Lee announced that he was making a movie based on the 1992 LA riots and all the movie websites I have visited were filled with negative comments about spike being a racist.I have only seen two of his films(malcom x and do the right thing) so can someone fill me in.

He's not a racist, he just has strong views about race in general. He used to be extremely militant, but has toned down over the years. I think people just immediately hear about him doing another racial flick and need something to whine about.

I hope they really get something to whine about. He's been pretty tame as of late. I want the anti-Crash. If it's Crash 2.0 I'll be severely disappointed.

A great film-maker; but clearly tilted to one side.

I enjoyed "Inside Man." But I could have done without some of the dialogue.

In a word, would I call him racist? Yes. But do I know the man? No. I just know his films.

However, it doesn't stop me from buying a movie ticket to one of his flicks.

Spike ain't racist, he's just an In your Face type of director. He's not afraid to question things most are afraid to ask or subjects that are taboo.

Well, I think he wants to know why he's seen as racist,not that he is.

Most people just can't relate and just want to avoid the issues that Spike focuses on in his movies. They don't want to see a movie about something they don't believe exists.

He's seen as a racist by some people basically because of comments he's made in the past about race (read: white people). And some people see a pattern in his movies focusing on racial issues, and immediately dismiss him as a whitey hater for some reason. Though it bothers me that seemingly intelligent people feel this way as opposed to idiotic troll types. View the posts here and you'll get the picture.
