Why is this board so quiet?

There's not too much to go over right now. Yes, we know the overall plot. Yes, we know about quite a few of the characters. Yes, we saw some behind-the-scenes photos. Yes, we got joy out of Mr. Jones kicking a cat. But, outside of all of that, what really do we know about the movie? While we've been spoiled a pretty good deal, Hellboy 2 is still under a lot of wraps. There's only so much anyone can discuss from what we have right now, interviews and whatnot.

If it's anything like the previous hellboards, it'll probably really start picking up under two conditions. A: You advertise the board. We also have the Del Toro forums and Comic Book Resources. B: When we see some official photos, news, clips, etc. from the film.

It would be great if people here were just as excited about our current Hellboy: Darkness Calls, BPRD: Killing Ground, or the three upcoming series. But they don't seem to be.

I just think Hellboy isn't all that popular, and they are doing an original story so there isn't much speculation, as opposed to like the Joker in Batman, or the scarring of Dent

I love Hellboy both in comics, and film, but it doesn't surprise me this thread is hardley ever busy

^Agreed, the character just isn't that popular or well known.

I'm quite disappointed they didn't do anything a Comic-Con... I was even talking with Doug Jone's publicist who was saying a couple months back that they were supposed to make a quick trip... But I'm guessing they ran into something out there in Europe and couldn't spend the time flying all the way back to San Diego.

Either way, I think they'll kick into a huge load of promotion/marketing eventually. I'm sure it'll pick up the hype once they're done filming and things get going next summer. Everyone's right though, ol' red is getting overshadowed by Iron Man and Batman and Hulk, which are far more popular and recognized characters... I think they're doing it better by staying in the dark until they can really kick off a big promotion and get people thinking about who he is and why this movie will kick plenty of ass. Of course they'll REALLY be pushing the "from the director of Pan's Labyrinth" aspect a LOT.

News around this film has been pretty quiet.

I bet when the trailer hits this part of the board will explode. Hellboy has been one of the best comic adaptations ever made IMO. I do not think Guillermo Del Toro will disappoint on this one.

There hasn't been many real updates. Should get something soon though.

I'm interested in the movie, but well I'm more hyped about Ironman and Bats.

They didn't have enough footage in the can for a decent trailer, and the filming schedule is pretty hectic, so that's why they pulled out of SDCC. I have no worries really, as GdT is very good at promo work and he has a cast that will put heart and soul into pushing the film. Doug's doing a lot of convention appearances as soon as he finishes filming in October, so hopefully he'll be able to talk about HB2 more then.

Once the first trailer hits thing should really pick up, i wouldnt worry about it for now.

^Here's hoping too, i'm glad they arent giving the whole movie away before we see it like some studio's (cough FOX cough) do.

Goldarnit, I hope so. 'Scuse me while I go ... well, I can't say any more. It all depends on what Universal will allow to be posted. Here's hoping ...

Hmmm...could be travel involved, me thinks. Anyway, whether sooner or later I am anxious to read what develops. :)

Have a wonderful time, HM. I am sure there are marvels to see and good times to be had.

Thanks, Kirk! Looking forward to Budapest tomorrow and seeing Doug et al. I'll try to check in when I can, and touch base. Can't guarantee much new stuff (I'm limited as to what I can say for obvious reasons), but I'll at least attempt to give y'all a flavour of Budapest and the HB2 set.

Yeah... i will get enthusiastic about this movie - well to a certain degree, after the trailer hits. But i wonder about the public??!!

Honestly, i liked the first movie and anticipate this one. After the effort of the crew on the last movie im looking forward to this more than say Iron Man.

When the teaser trailer comes out and shows just how kicka## this movie is going to be then this board will be very busy. :hellboy:
