But that says something. Everything has different types of fans, that's the way it goes. I'm the most open and I will try anythign Star Wars. But the thing is, if you really don't complain, than you just take anything you can get. That's not the best. There to me is a difference between constructive critisim and just complaining.
The OT is one of the best trilogies out there period, a few lows through out, but guess what all films have lows. But I think it seems that most like the OT over the PT quite significantly I still don't know anyone that likes the PT over the OT either way its fine.. To me the PT had bad acting, horrible characters and good action. To me what makes OT timeless is the characters. I was not born during the years of the OT, but right after. and I watched them and was blown away and became immersed. As many of my friends did and I think another generation. The reason? Not just the SFX, is just the characters and the story.
The PT failed on that aspect. Star Wars is not just about the technological breakthroughs, at first you would think so, but the reason of their timeless tales is because they were told so well. The PT I will bet won't ever be held in that same regard.
Does it make us haters? No. I understand there are haters out there that just get ridiculous. But when I see a bad film, that's just what I see. Second Nolan makes a bad film I will admit it. It just happens. Yes there is a lot of subjectivity on the matter, but honestly watching the prequel and the OT there is such a vast vast vast difference between the two. Not only in style, but acting directing, and focus.
I don't believe in complaining, I believe in constructive critism. Even me who is a Nolan fan admits his flaws in some areas, and hopes he improves. To me The Clone Wars is awesome, lots of EU stoires are amazing. But the PT just lacked characters and the focus on them.
I think Star Wars is the best universe and can be expanded greatly. I think just like Bob Kane, Stan Lee and many others, they created some of the greatest universes in the world...but they let it go and let others and sometimes better artists improve upon their work. As time went on in their universes much better stories were told as time went on. I think no less of them for letting others expand their story more so.
To me GL needs to let go of Star Wars, and let others take control of it. He wil always be the father of it, and always loved for it such as Stan and Bob and others always are.
It's clear there are many that are just disappointed with the PT. Do I hate them? No there is lots of great things in them, but over all especially compared to such an amazing first trilogy they did not even come close to the same league. It's clear that the PT did not have the massive impact that the OT did.
I think it's fine that people love the PT and so forth, I mean there is tons of subjectivity. But IMO I think most don't feel that way. I just wish Lucas would let go, and hire some new blood to continue this wonderful universe.
Again this is my opinion and I'm not trying to spit on others about it. It is just one of those things over the years most of the people I know, and just from general consensus is that the PT really did not have the power the first three did, and maybe I am completely wrong. And to me the technology was nothing to do with it, it was the story and the human aspect that pulled us in.
