Wii launch date and price confirmed!!!

Yeah but their FFXII critisisms are based in falacy, while they do have a point or two about the Wii. Still, I'm getting a Wii and looking forward to getting one on day one.

Their only 'point' is the old games on the Virtual Console. Some people didn't have a chance to get them back or have since sold their consoles, so providing the old games on the VC is not a bad thing :o

No they have a point or two more then that in my opinion. Watch the most recent 1Up Show, they pretty much hit all the nails on the ehad.

The widescreen option of the Wii version is appealling, I'm just not sold on the controls, even with the newest Wii event and the new controls people have said that Zelda is easier with the GC controller.

Oh and the GC version of Twilight Princess is being delayed 3 week behind the release of the Wii evrsion.

I suppose whichever version you choose is fine, but you should take into consideration that Miyamoto himself was skpetical of the new control scheme, but when he played an updated build, he said that the Wii version is much superior to the GC version. That means a lot. Now, I guess you could say he is obligated to make such a statement, but it's Miyamoto. I trust him.

He's not obligated to make the statement. Both Zelda's are nintendo and the same price. They're not making more money by having him say the Wii version is better.

Will you be able to play the Wii version with the classic controller, I wonder?
No you won't. That was known a couple weeks ago, longer I think. I don't have a link, but it was confirmed that you can't.

Just curious

Your question has been asked many, many times by others and has been answered many, many times. I guess they're just tired of getting people up to speed.:yay:

I'm watching the Wii Press Conference and they're using a point system like MS. 500 ($5) for NES, 800 ($8) for SNES, 1000 ($10) for N64. 2000 pt cards can be bought for $20 at stores.

Why would you want to?

Because it works better, just try asking all the people that have played both versions.

So basically, $1=100 points. That's not an unfair equation. The very first game I'm gonna download will be Super Mario World, and $8 is better than the price for the GBA version.

Wii being only $250 is great.
I think it's very smart, and will be a big seller, this Christmas.

I saw good things from the demos at the recent press conference.

If you check the SHH! main page they have a poll asking what system(s) you intend to buy/bought.

It it happens to be the only poll online that Sony is winning. You KNOW it's bad when Gamefaqs doesn't even have Sony ahead in their polls.

As for TP and standard control vs Wiimote...I honestly believe most gamers are afraid of the Wiimote. Seriously, they'll hide it behind words like "skeptical" and junk, but it's more then that. The Wiimote is a serious change and it's simple fact that most gamers don't like getting off the couch/PC Chair while playing.

Yes, we all know Nintendo said time and time again that you won't have to dance around like a dork while playing with the Wiimote but Nintendo "hay-ta's" refuse to acknowledge that.

If you chose to go with the Cube version, hey...more power to you. But you'll possibly be missing out on a great time by skipping the Wii version.

Honestly, I know that Nintendo is being nice by releasing a Cube version, but deep down inside....I hope they flat out cancle it.

I've read the thread but hasn't seen it mentionned : the Euro release date is December 8th and the price is 249 €. :)

And the PS3 Euro-release date has been pushed back to March 2007 (for a price of 600 to 700 €).

The price is ok. $250 is still a lot cheaper than the competition, although the Xbox is gonna go down in price so that gap might not look at large there.

I kind of wish Nintendo gave a Virtual Console game with it too. Like, $5 (however they give, the point system?) for any NES game of the owners choice, or something like that. I think itll convince people to get more games (for those that might not use it).

And I dont know about the launch date. Releasing it so close to the PS3 launch, while showing that Nintendo has balls, is only going to hurt sales for both systems. If it came out a few weeks before, at least the Wii could dominate for that time, and even when the PS3 comes out, there'll be more Wii's available for people to pick up compared to what will obviously be a hard-to-find system.

I dont know, Im no marketing expert, so we'll see I guess. At least Nintendo will own the holidays in Europe.

Microsoft has denied a price drop for the 360. It looks more likely they'll upgrade the Premium version to include 3-months gold, PGR3, and I think an arcade game. Even if they drop the price, it'll be $200 for the Core (the set no one wants or buys) and $300 for the Premium; so the Wii still has the edge, albeit a small one.

Releasing the Wii so close to the PS3 is not going to be fatal. The Wii is half the price of the ****ty $500 version and more than a third the price of the better version. The gap is too big to cause a negative impact on the Wii.

Price is perfect. The games are perfect. Everything is perfect. The best next-gen console?

I think so.

I'm getting one at launch.
