2D side scrollers are a cop out. It's an excuse to skip out on graphics.

Good gameplay > Graphics.

Why settle for one, when you can have both?

The fallacy of DIRECTOR's (stupid and poorly thought out) argument is that Trine plays and looks great.

uhhhhh, because there is less graphics used on a 2D game.

"less graphics"? What in the hell does "less graphics" even mean? :funny:

You're going by an outdated definition of what a 2D side scroller is. It is not a game where the visuals are just flat images. Today, a 2D side scroller can use 3D models (e.g. Trine, New Super Mario Bros.), it's only considered 2D because you move the character in two dimensions (horizontal and vertical) and the camera is a side-view.

I'll take Super Mario Galaxy 2 over New Super Mario Bros. any day.

And Super Mario 3D Land over New Super Mario Bros. 2 for that matter.

Nintendo is revealing the Wii U's price and release date during its Direct presentation tomorrow. Nintendo announced the news on its Japanese Twitter feed, setting a time of 3am JST (3am Eastern, 10am Pacific, 3pm GMT) for company president Saturo Iwata to reveal those details along with other information about the console. The tweet translated reads:

"Good evening, it's Iwata from Nintendo. Tomorrow at 4pm [Japanese time] we'll broadcast online the Wii U's sale information. We'll tell you when the Wii U will launch and how much for."

Nintendo is streaming the presentation on its website tomorrow, and we'll have coverage of all the reveals as and when they happen. We figure it's worth staying up for. At 10am JST NoA president Reggie Fils-Aime will host a Wii U event in New York City, where we presume he'll reveal the US price and release date. There's a European Nintendo Direct scheduled for the same time.

They won't price it above 299. That would just be suicide.

I'm pretty what most people have been warning them against is to price anywhere the words / digits 400 . they( those same people) see it as 300(still a bit to high I know )some thing at most. But if the former happens ,they(Nintendo this time) will be screwed for sure. The post up top us has been updated with a youtube video from the site, I just put it up under the wii U tablet controller.

What worries me is from rumored specs...is there no optical output on the Wii U?
No HDMI on your receiver? You could always buy a converter for like $20, or upgrade your receiver. :oldrazz: My receiver is almost ten years old, so I'm shopping around online for a new one.

Sounds like Nintendo is to Game Consoles that Apple is to Smartphones.

Well, they do kind of look alike.

Apple is still more expensive though. depending on things product wise and when their next product of the same device is to come out next.

iPhone 5 announced

Apple has announced the iPhone 5, ending two years of face melting anxiety for that cocooned iPhone 4 to turn into a beautiful iPhone 5 butterfly. Fancy tech talk time: It's a 326 pixels per inch Retina display, four-inches. 1136 x 640 resolution. Same width as iPhone 4S, but taller. 7.6mm thick, 18 percent thinner than before. 112 grams, 20 percent lighter than the 4S. Old apps will run letterboxed.

For communication, the device's radio chip broadcasts across all of the legacy protocols like EV-DO and HSPA/+, as well as the latest, fastest system called LTE, which enables faster downloads and uploads. The iPhone 5 isn't the first LTE device by a long shot, but it's the first Apple LTE device. Since Apple likes to avoid technical jargon in its branding, its calling it "Ultrafast Wireless."

Engadget is currently live blogging the event.

The iPhone, along with cousins iPad and iPod, has proven itself as a gaming device. A study late last year found 48 percent of total App Store revenue came from in-app transactions of free titles, with 24 percent derived from in-app purchases on paid titles. 1+1+2+1... that means 28 percent of iOS revenue came from normal paid apps.

...developing...
I mean seriously.

It's all in how you look at it I guess.

They had to do an event alone, otherwise they would risk being overshadowed by competitors and developers.

They have a lot of information that they need to get out to the public, so this is a good idea.

They definitely need to showcase to both adults and kids that this thing is something you cannot live without. Bringing on a lot of M rated titles, obvious as it is, will get that quote unquote "hardcore" crowd.

Sorry Fellas, Nintendo has always been the innovator in platforms, they never let me down. I would much rather have a unique experience then play the same stuff over and over. All other platforms have done nothing but copy Nintendo in its innovations. Nothing orginal from other platforms other then the same shi*, it just looks prettier... who cares. All I can tell from Sony and Micro is they are going the way of a PC in game console form.. Thats really it.

I was going more by the whole innovation over specs thing.

The XBox 360 is basically Microsoft's best selling PC. That is what they pretty much push it as.

lol There's no way that was a pc. Well it was more computer like then the other console's if they mean it was easier to "code" for ports from. but still....

I have one and basically hooked up the keyboard and mouse and use it as a pc to do **** on than as a game system.

Agreed, Sony is really the same.. If you look at it like that Nintendo is the only one that has kept its integrity in terms of gaming.. Actually Microsoft and Sony have followed more of the Apple philosophy if you really look at it.
