So are a lot of you excited for this?

I've been a life long Nintendo fan, but I'm just not pumped for this system. Having a controller with a screen doesn't do much for me. Is that the only new thing this has over the Wii?

It has a normal controller as an alternative (if your not into the screen one )as the video's I put up show and you can use the nun chuck from your wii before it as another alternative controller too. Other then that you'll just have to see how good the games that come out for it are.

"Excited" isn't the right word, but I definitely want it.

I'll finally be able to decide if I'm actually excited for it or just going through the motions in a few hours. Today's the day I get to try the Wii U at the convention.

I havent been excited for a Nintendo console since I got my SNES back in 1992

I guess for me it's going to come down to the games and if there is a big improvement in graphics. To be honest I think I'm not excited because I've been burnt out on video games for quite some time.

I'm really excited for Rayman Legends, but I'm 100% positive that's it only a timed exclusive for Wii U, so I'll pick it up for 360 when it's available.

It's not a timed exclusive.

Ubisoft has announced that Rayman Legends will be a Wii U exclusive. While the game has only been shown on Wii U, predecessor Rayman Origins was released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Vita, PC, Wii and is planned for 3DS, leading many to believe that Ubisoft would follow a similar strategy for the sequel. A new trailer confirms that this will not be the case, noting that Legends will be released this year “exclusively on Wii U.”

I am NOT a photog :o

If you think about it. This is the most powerful (mass produced) gaming console ever created. Sure hope the graphics reflect that.

Ninja Gaiden 3 eh? Wonder if this will be the "not suck" edition?

Yeah, I'm looking at Pikmin 3 and you can see the graphics have definitely stepped up.

We don't know the specs yet. There have been a ton of rumors though.
The latest rumors are that when compared with the XB720 dev kit, it's about 20% less powerful, which isn't much.

This new generation is not going to take huge graphical leaps anyway.

I mentioned in the Halo thread that my friend is a manager at the local GameStop and he was in Texas last week for the annual Managers Conference. Anyway, he played the WiiU and said it was the best thing he played there. He said there's so much he wants to tell that he's not allowed but he confirmed that Nintendo will be announcing the release date and price on the 13th.

He said that he would "put money" on the 250-300 range. No more.

Said the graphics are great and the online features they were shown (that no one knows about) were pretty sweet as well.

Now I'm even more stoked.

If the rumored Nov. 18th, date is correct (which actually falls in line with Nintendo's last release), then Nintendo has to give price and date for Wii U, as well as prices for games and accessories. There is no way they can't because they need to start doing a huge ad campaign to get the ball rolling.

I'm still thinking the $299.99 price point will do it. If they can manage $249.99, I'll be even happier, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

The more I see of the Wiiu the more I want it, but I just wish it had some better launch games. I'm disappointed by the launch titles.

It's looking like they want to have a strong opening window (something stated by Nintendo, so I'd say at least three months of steady releases, which is better, IMO), as opposed to launching a bunch of games on day one. We'll see on September 13 whether or not they have any surprises in store for us.

There will be plenty of games on day one to tide people over until the next one, me thinks.

That's a fair point. I buy Nintendo systems for first party Nintendo games, so here's hoping there's a bunch of those on the horizon. I know Super Mario BrosU is on the way.

I actually want to just try it out to see what all the functions are before playing any games anyway. See how it browses the web, how the tablet works, etc.

I've bought every Nintendo console, so ya I will get this, mainly because a lot of their first party games I love, and it sounds like Retro is making another Metroid, I want another Zelda/Mario ect.

Sadly I feel like they are...well they are going last generation tech again. But oh well, I'm excited enough for it. New Mario Bros 2 will probably be one of my first.

This system is going to be more powerful than XB360/PS3, and the gap between PS4/XB720 (or whatever it's called) and Wii is not going to be a huge jump.
