Will 3DS memory cards work for regular DS games?

I'm thinking about getting a 3DS. I know the current titles are a little weak, but I have skipped out on all DS stuff and think I might get it and play some older titles. But will I need DS memory cards or will the 3DS memory cards work for the regular DS games as well?
