Surprisingly endearing, when it lets itself be sincere. A few moments ruined by a compulsion to insert Reynolds-brand snark into scenes that should have been left to play out on their own, but otherwise pretty strong.

I LOVED Octavia Spencer getting to be a love interest. And Patrick Page is always welcome on my screen, despite the AUDACITY of casting your only legit Broadway star as the character who hates singing.
