I think in 20 years when the movie has stood the test of time and there's a restart of Superman that REALLY re-introduces the Man of Steel our children's generation he might be a little more open about his feelings of success/failure. Right now this movie is still a product that needs to be sold, and thats what Singer and co. are doing. I think for Alan Horn to speak about its performance/lack of action so openly even at this stage has to tell you something. I bet in 20 years Singer will be saying

"Well, I thought that making a movie in the shadow of a beloved classic would be a good way to make people feel the magic of it all, and in some ways it backfired because I think at the time the masses were really craving something fresh that they could feel like was made for them."

Just watch, hindsight is 20/20 and when Singer has this movie far behind him and its no longer something he needs to sell he might come clean about some areas where he thinks he could have done differently for the better of the film.

There's one thing i don't get there , i don't wan't to start an argument or something , but why some people just can't have the humilty to say that what they felt about the movie , without saying that because they didn't like it , really it is a bad movie and Singer will admit it sooner or later?

Singer won't admit it's a bad movie because he's stil trying to sell it, and second because his ego is too large for him to admit he has screwed up. Simple as that.

Excellent post just not the blockbuster it could and should have been but not all bad either.
The good parts outweighted the bad IMO not by much but by enough for me to like it even with its flaws.

He wants to go all wrath of khan in the next so maybe he sees that doing his movie based on donner's wasn't the best route, and it's better to base it on star trek II?
