Will Smith may still be busy fighting off hordes of vampires in I Am Legend and, even worse, fighting his way through sacks full of congratulation cards for his Oscar nod for The Pursuit of Happyness, but he's not one to let a few undead and several mountains of praise get between him and his work. That's why Smith's production company Overbrook Entertainment, which he runs with James Lassiter, has picked up Le Voyeur to develop.
The film tells the story of a man who returns to the Caribbean island he lived on as a child, only to be implicated in a woman's murder two days after he gets there. Like, bummer.
Le Voyeur's based on a 1955 French novel by Alain Robbe-Grillet (which in French means, "Alan has stole the fat-reducing grilling machine". Possibly) but the script's by Massy Tadjedin. It was originally set to go ahead in 2002 with Akiva Goldsman producing, presumably before he got caught up in The Da Vinci Code.
So will Smith take a role in the film? Well, he's got to be a potential star. After all, the demographics fit, and it's been a while since he did that man accused thing so well in Enemy of the State. But if the title refers to the main character, it's a little harder to imagine. Will Smith as a bad guy would be interesting; Will Smith as a seedy voyeur? A little harder to picture. In any case, don't expect any movement on this until after I Am Legend finishes and probably after the already delayed Tonight He Comes.

Anyone read the book ? sounds intriguing and Smith has picked some good projects lately IMO

Sounds pretty good--'course, it could go wrong, depending on who gets in and such, but for now, it has some great potential. :)
